Jennie Bell – Nurse Practitioner

What is a Nurse Practitioner?: Nurse practitioners are highly skilled health practitioners who have completed a Master’s Degree in Nursing and have a wide range of specialist nursing skills.

Practitioners can assess, treat, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medicines and have an excellent knowledge of our community.

Jennie is a Nurse Practitioner who does community clinics around the motu.

A little bit about Jennie -

My name is Jennie Bell (Tūhoe), I am originally from the lower North Island and I have lived on the West Coast since 2009. I am a Mātanga Tapuhi – Nurse Practitioner. I started as a Registered Nurse and completed a Masters of Nursing with a focus on rural nursing before completing another year of study to become a Nurse Practitioner.

As a Nurse Practitioner I can provide health care which includes an assessment, prescribing medicines and making referrals or writing letters and certificates as needed. Within West Coast Health, I work with Poutini Waiora and the primary care practices on the West Coast to provide outreach clinics to rural areas.

In my spare time I do strongman training, mountain biking and enjoy all the outdoors the West Coast has to offer.
