Ann-Sophie Salomez came to us after years of failed dieting. She had tried many different approaches such as keto, paleo, and intermittent-fasting but had found them all hard to sustain for long periods of time. She also had some major objectives to improve her body composition (gain muscle mass, and reduce fat mass), whilst training for both the Oxfam Trailwalker 50km and Taupo Ultra 50km.


After recommending that she added comprehensive resistance training to her schedule, we put together a periodised macronutrient intake for her to follow. Not only was this designed to meet her individualised needs, but it also fitted around the foods and drinks she liked to consume!


Ann-Sophie also chose to sign up for our 12-Week Block Support package to help her stay accountable to the process.


As a result she was able to drop 2 kg of body mass, with a corresponding reduction of 30 mm in skinfolds! Ann-Sophie also reported that by learning appropriate portioning for the foods and drinks she liked to eat that she was more satisfied with her diet, and felt more confident in adhering in the long term! She also commented that having the weekly catch-up as part of the support package was vital in keeping her on track and continuing to make good decisions throughout the block!

We recently worked with Natalie Gallant on her epic first hit out in the Kathmandu Coast to Coast.


The Coast to Coast is an ultra-endurance cross-terrain multi-modal (run, kayak, bike) stage race. For Natalie it was looking like 18 hours of continuous exercise, with limited opportunities to eat and drink. Consuming enough fuel to get her through was going to be a big enough challenge in itself!


“Train how you compete, compete how you train” is always a useful mantra to follow for performers, but not everyone knows that this applicable to your nutrition strategies when racing too. Often endurance athletes train the house down on little fuel and fluid intake, but then on race day try to consume copious amounts of food, gels, bars and sports drink on race day. This often results in gastrointestinal issues (bloating, gas, cramps, toilet stops etc), which is caused by your digestive system not being able to digest the type and amount food / fluids you need to take on board!


‘Gut’ training is exactly what we worked on with Natalie. We helped her to work out her needs, establish an achievable fuel and fluid intake plan, and then got her to train this intake plan alongside her prep for the race! This allowed her to meet higher intake needs without the daunting gut issues!

Freddy Walker is one of several cricketers that Enhance Nutrition Coaching has supported over the past two seasons.


Freddy has dedicated his focus to understanding his specific needs as a cricketer, at the same time as managing the realities and temptations of everyday life. To do this we implemented a controlled and structure eating plan that allows choice with portion guidance.


During Freddy’s support package he has been open and honest with the challenges and barriers he faces as a professional sportsman and this has contributed to a deeper understanding of his situation. Such relationships always lead to more successful outcomes and this is shown in the positive change in his nutrition behaviours.

Larissa Collingwood] is another of Enhance Nutrition Coaching’s clients with aspirations to become an International rugby official.


Larissa has a dedicated daily training plan during the week, a heavy schedule of weekend matches to officiate, and then for fun she also dabbles in a bit of Crossfit. She certainly puts the in the mahi!


To meet International level standards Larissa has had to meet specific testing criteria for physical and anthropometric tests, and we worked together to help her achieve them. She was certainly pleased when we discussed the fact that she didn’t have to give up her favourite foods too; just control the serving sizes instead!

When Corbin Hart] got in touch he was embarking on his journey to qualify for the KL3 200 at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. He needed some guidance on appropriate supplementation to enhance his training, and a dialled in macronutrient plan to help him maximise both his training load & recovery, whilst optimising his body composition.


With a Surf-Lifesaving background he was no stranger to hard work, so it was no surprise that Corbin got onto the plan immediately and was reaping the benefits from day dot! Corbin has only been racing Canoe Sprint since July 2020, after losing his right leg in an accident at work the previous year.


It’s a great pleasure that I get to work with athletes like Corbin, but even more so when they achieve their goals! I finish this post by congratulating him on his qualification to Tokyo 2020, and wish good luck and to ‘Go Hard’ when he gets there!

When isn’t out serving and protecting the citizens of NZ with the , he is putting in the training hours at .


Sam’s as dedicated to his shift work as he is to the barbell, but this meant he was often fatigued and struggling to maintain condition (size, strength, and fitness). After reviewing his dietary intake against his training outputs it was easy to see that he was under-consuming protein & carbohydrates, and missing his timings with key feeds.


After putting together a weekly macro -management nutrition plan, which considered both his work & training schedule, and his overall goals; Sam started to see his energy levels and training gains go through the roof! Sam also reported that after learning about his macronutrient needs he started to take more notice of what foods contained too, and has been able to take more ownership of his intakes too!

Congratulations to new client for her recent performances at the National Track Cycling Championships. She had a huge week of racing to manage, but smashed it by reaching the Podium 4x times! Gold in the Standing Lap & Team Sprint, Silver in the Kierin, and Bronze in the Match Sprint.


With Lily we reviewed her training schedule to make sure she was consuming adequate energy (at the same time as hitting her macronutrients), to fuel recovery and adapt on a daily basis. We also checked over the range of supplements she was using providing advice on more appropriate (batch-tested) and effective options.

Our proudest story at to date. splits her time as an Occupational Therapist, Crossfitter (training out of ) and a Mum to little Ollie (and dogs; Bruce and Frank)!


We worked on helping Courtney establish some macronutrient targets that actually worked her for food preferences, diet intolerances, and total energy needs.


These are her words - “Alex helped me shift my focus from trying to deprive myself in order to lose weight, to how to eat to perform and optimise overall health and well-being. He took into consideration activity (CrossFit) but also health and hormonal issues when tailoring macros that were specific to my needs. Congratulations to Enhance_Nutrition_Coaching client, Doug Dibley, who completed his first Half Ironman in Taupo last weekend. He really did the hard yards (and a lot of them) so we worked with Doug to understand how much fuel (and what type) he needed for training, and to individualize is race and plan!
