Guess who realised they forgot to show off this months blind dates?

This month’s premium blind date with a book books are so much fun - not only do you get a fantastic recent release (which would cost more to by new than this whole package), you get a scrumptious bar of our new bennetto chocolate, enough tea for several servings of relaxing raspberry goji berry tea to enjoy alongside your book, and a themed book lover key chain!

But the real question is, would you choose romance, mystery, adventure, sci-fi or classics? 🗝️

So why is it called shelf SWOP?

Our first shelf swop bags are arriving back to us, and we couldn’t be more excited.

But why shelf SWOP and not swap? 🤔

Aside from the fun play on words, when you order a bag, you’ll be sent a special reusable shipping bag to fill and return, aka a SWOP (Sustainable Way Of Packaging) bag ♻️

These bags are designed to be used over and over, to prevent single use packaging and excess waste. They’re sturdy, but still home compostable once they reached the end of their use-ability. After a few uses they won’t look quite so pristine, but I like to think of them like secondhand books - sometimes the most worn ones hold the best stories.

The driving force behind everything we do is sustainability, so it’s important we do this through action, and not just pretty words.

Why not just use boxes you might ask? 📦

Unfortunately, boxes cost us on average 2 to 3 times more to ship, so aren’t cost effective for us as a small business. However, if you have more than eight books to exchange, you can return your books to us in a box, and just slip the unused SWOP bag inside too.

We’ll be opening up our Shelf SWOP bags to the rest of our north island customers (currently Hamilton only) very soon, with South Island to follow not long after. 🚚

How excited are you for tonight’s non-fiction drop? 🙋

We have a stellar range of recent releases, plus some of our best selling non-fiction, and a whole heap of titles that just caught our eye (the best part of secondhand book shopping)

Calling all nonfiction fans and autobiography aficionados 📢

It’s time for a much overdue restock of our nonfiction range with this month’s special book drop tomorrow night.

We will be adding a huge range of biographies and autobiographies, as well as a wide range of reference and deep dive subject nonfiction books.

A quick note to say there’s no book drop today, but we’re doing a clear out instead!

We’re so excited to be heading along to next month, alongside 140+ authors and other bookish vendors.

We’ll have our whole range of bookish gifts, including some new goodies we’re finding it hard not to share with you already 🤭

This is a one of a kind opportunity to discover new local authors, and is highly worth the trip even if you’re not local.
