2025, what a year β¨οΈ
Lots of ups and downs, as life does go!
2025 brought me a new diagnosis of autism and ADHD. Long suspected, yet a range of emotions that come with late diagnosis' π
In midwifery, I celebrated the births of:
π©· 28 girls
π 26 boys
π©·π©· one set of girl twins
Supported 32 first time mama's & 22 mama's who'd had babies before π©
Their ages ranged from 20 to 46 β°οΈ
My earliest baby arrived at 28+5 weeks gestation π₯°
My biggest baby at birth was 4840grams π€
My smallest baby at birth was 1652grams π€
20 babies were born in our primary birth centres, 32 born in Hospital, and 2 born at home π
I had:
7 waterbirths π
24 vaginal births (not in water) βοΈ
3 ventouse delivery's π«Ά
6 forceps delivery's π£
4 elective (planned) c-sections π
10 emergency (unplanned) c-sections π₯
Throughout all of this, I couldn't have done it without the unwavering support of my midwifery partner Legend Matetaka-Ormsby β€οΈ the difference this year she's made in the sustainability of this job, the true friendship, and awareness that she has my back completely no matter what - is something I've not experienced before, and cannot believe I ever lived without π₯Ή
It goes without saying, but I wouldn't be able to do this job without my husband Jeff who stays at home to make sure everyone there is safe, happy and fed (me included π). To know I can get up and rush off to work at the drop of a hat in this wild on-call life, eases more stress than you'd believe and I know I'm so lucky to have him π₯°
Thank you to all the families who asked me to walk alongside them in their journey's at such a special time. I am constantly amazed by the strength and capabilities of women πͺ and truely blessed that this is my job π
