My lovely friends and followers, I have decided to delete all social medias for the foreseeable future 🙏
After a bout of shingles whilst still in my 20s, I've had to reassess my life, priorities and boundaries. Obviously, social media is sensibly one of the first things to go as I start implementing changes for a healthier work/life balance
As much as I'd like to think I can do it all, I am only one woman. So you won't see me posting but know that I am still around working - just focusing on being "with women" (this is what the word midwife means) and being a less fatigued/more present mother for my children 😇

Birth story time 📖

The last 24 hours I've spent with a mama having an augmentation after her waters broke and no labour started.

The hospital midwife called yesterday to say the baby's head was right inside, so to come quick. Unfortunately for mama, she was still very early in her labour and baby wasn't close until today.

Baby's heart rate was high today and not reassuring, her head too far up for the Dr's to reach, and mama was tired so didn't want to push - meaning an emergency c-section was had to welcome baby girl instead 🩷

Mama opted to be put to sleep so when little miss arrived she needed some help with her breathing. It was not a straight forward operation either, and in these moments you really see the health professionals rally together. The midwives, anaesthetists, obstetricians, paediatricians, nurses etc all worked together in a time of high stress to ensure mum and bubs safety

For all the negativity the hospital gets, the whole team there were amazing today 👏

Last week, I had the most relaxed, calm, empowering birth 🙌

Mama came in happy and smiling, you could barely tell she was labouring

She hopped in the birth pool and was chatting with her partner. I went to sit in the birth room, to give them some space to settle in and heard mama make one pushy type noise, so I came in and baby's head was coming

She was so amazing, breathed her baby's head out gently into her partner's hands - then stopped to take her phone out to video dad catching baby from behind her, before giving another push for baby's body. How clever 🩷
