Herbert Victor, George Johnston and Douglas Colin Barton all settled in New Zealand from Marysville Victoria Australia. early 1900s. Herbert Victor married Margaret Kennedy MELVILLE in 1910 so presumably to NZ a few years before that. George m Violet Williamson 1906, and Douglas m Eileen Cooper 1928. A number of their Thornbury cousins and inlaw families also settled in NZ, Ford Limbrick and Attwood amongst them. Hi, I'm Gerald Barton, Son of (Bert) Herbert Thomas Henry Barton. m Ruth Hepburn, Grandson of Herbert Victor B m Margaret Kennedy Melville, GGson of Thomas John Barton m Emily Ada Sparke. Thomas John migrated to Australia 1852 with his mother and her children, from Thornbury Gloucestershre England. They set up in Marysville in Victoria, from where Herbert Victor, & his bro's George Johnston, and Douglas Colin moved on to NZ The Barton family in Thornbury can be traced back to the early 1500s. Primarily this page is to connect the New Zealand side of the family, but any connections worldwide are welcome. Don't be shy, say Hi, and if youre not too sure if you are connected in some way, put in some details.
Another of my objectives is to increase the number with 'our' Barton DNA in the international 'Barton name' site'. We are lineage ###III , with only 2 listings.... 2 !! We can do better than that cant we??🙂
