Next time you visit our clinic, say hello to Nurse Shae 👋 Shae joined the Little London whaanau in May and has quickly settled in with her warm smile and wealth of experience. She has a strong background in primary care and also spent a year working in the Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Shae loves the variety of patients she cares for and being part of our dedicated team. When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll often find her with her family, out cycling, or relaxing with some crochet.

Our new Manaaki room provides a comfortable safe space for us to care for patients with potentially contagious cold or flu symptoms. It allows us to provide high quality personalised care to all our patients in a way that keeps everyone safe and reduces the risk of viruses spreading.

If you are feeling unwell with a cough, sore throat, runny nose, or fever, please let our team know when you book your appointment – and we’ll arrange for you to see your GP in this purpose-built room inside the new cabin in front of our main clinic.

🎉 We’re so proud of Dr Gemma! Over the weekend, she was invited to give the Peter Anyon Memorial Address at The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners’ annual conference in Christchurch - a huge honour in the GP world. Her address highlighted the need for humanity alongside excellent clinical care. Gemma was awarded a prestigious medal in recognition of her outstanding performance during her first year of GP training.

We’re thrilled that Dr Gemma has chosen to continue her career here at Little London Medical. Her kind, approachable nature and excellent care have made her a fantastic part of our team. 💙

We’re thrilled to welcome Dr Miriam Karalus to the Little London whaanau🤩 She started seeing patients here on Monday and will be working four days a week — so be sure to say hello next time you’re in.

Miriam was born and raised in Hamilton in a large Samoan-Kiwi medical family and brings with her a real heart for community health. She’s previously worked as a GP in Tokoroa, and at K’aute Pasifika and Te Kōhao Health in Hamilton. She has a special interest in dermatology. She’s even published research in this area and plans to keep building her expertise.

Outside the clinic, Miriam is a proud member of the Pasifika community and her local church, where you’ll often find her playing the organ on Sundays. And if that’s not enough, she’s a former competitive rugby player who still trains with the Marist Women’s team.

Winter can be rough for tamariki with asthma. Cold air, seasonal viruses and damp environments can all make it harder to breathe. That’s why now is a good time to check your child’s asthma plan is up to date.

If your child is coughing more at night, getting breathless more easily, or using their inhaler more often, their asthma plan might need a review.

Our clinical director, Dr Clare Harford, did a great job sharing her expertise and experience at a national healthcare conference last week. She outlined our vision to improve primary healthcare in Hamilton and to provide personalised holistic care to our patients.

We were really excited to welcome Dr Gemma Herbison to the Little London team last month. Gemma is passionate about keeping people active and well and has a special interest in preventative medicine and the management of long-term conditions.

Outside of work, Gemma is a passionate dancer. She is an experienced Pilates instructor, has run dance workshops throughout New Zealand, and still teaches contemporary ballet and jazz to aspiring young dancers in Cambridge. Gemma works Wednesday mornings and all-day Mondays and Thursdays and is already loving working in our small family-focused practice.

We finally said goodbye to our old cabin on Monday night. The space where it used to be outside our clinic has created room for two more parking spaces, which will help make it easier for patients to visit our clinic.

We now have a new, larger and more modern cabin in place to provide more treatment and administration space🤩 This design mock-up shows what the cabin will look like once the signage and entry ramps are in place. This new cabin replaces the smaller one that used to be on the other side of the building and has allowed room for two more parking spaces.

At Little London, we might have been keeping Hamilton healthy for over 100 years but we are as sharp and fresh as the future can get! You'll notice all our spaces have been getting a makeover, but it was time for our logo to reflect the bright, clean, quality care we are known for too.

We aren't changing owners - we're just honouring our commitment to keep improving how we care for you in every way. (We will stop using "Clinic" at the end of our name soon too).
