This week is Phlebotomist Recognition Week and it has been a tougher than normal week for our phlebotomist teams in the regions hardest hit by Cyclone Gabrielle.
Phelebotomists are some of the only interaction many will have with a laboratory service. These highly trained and compassionate people are the life line between our communities and our laboratories.
Over the past year our phlebotomist teams have interacted with 3.66 million of you in the community, performed over 193,000 home visits, and collected an incredible 7.2 million blood samples. Those numbers don't even include the vast array of all the other samples that come out of a body.
Our phlebotomists are passionate about their work, and it shines through in the feedback we get on a daily basis about individual experiences with our frontline staff.
Next time you are visiting a collection centre, join us in saying thank you to our phlebotomists, and for what they do each day for local communities across the motu.
