We're pleased to be working in partnership with Waikato Badminton Association Inc. to build their Coach Development System.

On Wednesday evening, Bevan facilitated an open engagement opportunity with over 20 community reps and coaches. They provided insights into their community needs, and feedback to inform the project going forward.

A huge thank you to the ongoing support for the project from Fin at Sport Waikato and Tracy and Donna at Badminton New Zealand.

Great to partner and work with Anton and Sarah from Sport Waikato to deliver the Physical Activity Leaders programme to 80+ kids at Te Awamutu Sports.

Nice work Paula, Bevan, and everyone involved.

Meet Steve Hart - Local Wellington goodsort and Volleyball Coach.

He just completed our Sport Coaching Qualification and has a successful coaching career across multiple sports!

Our final coaching cohort for 2025, starting in September, is near capacity! Express interest on our website. Steve's story below:

---

πŸ† Where are you from?
I am an Australian, moved to NZ 0ver 15 years ago. I am living in Wellington with my beautiful wife and extended samoan aiga

πŸ† What is your role as a coach?
Currently I am coaching a college Senior A volleyball side, and assisting with a senior volleyball club mens A and B sides. Previously I have coached Indoor Cricket internationally - winning 3 World titles, Twice with Australia (Premier Women and Under 19 boys) and once with New Zealand (over 30 men). I have also coached Basketball and Cricket previously.

πŸ† Why did you join the Wilss Sport Coaching Course?
I wanted to have some qualifications to stand alongside my practical experience. Gaining accreditation that was also non sports specific was a major attraction as I am in early stages of a coaching journey in a new sport.

πŸ† How have you found the course?
The course is fantastic, well structured and Bevan is an engaging facilitator. Workload is not onerous, but does require effort, thought and application.

πŸ† Any key learnings or reflections?
An unexpected outcome was the relationships and learnings gained through the course. Hearing perspectives from people in different sports and in very different stages of their coaching journey drew out my own curiosity and helped me to evaluate many things in different ways.

Some great ideas and approaches come from the collegial environment.
