Have you ever noticed that you get more muscle cramps and don’t sleep so well after having a binge on sugar?

Or similarly if you are in the habit of having a few too many coffees throughout the day?

I hate to break it to you, but if you excessively consume coffee and sugar on a regular basis, it can lead to flushing out of magnesium from your body!

Magnesium is a vital mineral that plays many essential roles in the human body, including blood pressure regulation, sleep, muscle contractions, blood sugar regulation and energy production.

Our body constantly uses magnesium to carry out these functions!

That’s why it is important to maintain adequate magnesium levels in the body by eating a balanced diet rich in high magnesium foods like leafy greens, cocoa, nuts and seeds alongside managing stress, and avoiding excessive sugar and caffeine consumption.

Magnesium is already a common mineral deficiency without flushing out what you have!

Some forms of magnesium I recommend for clients:
• Magnesium Malate: Great for energy, mood, and heart health
• Magnesium Citrate: Perfect for muscle health, constipation, and cardiovascular support
• Magnesium Glycinate: Excellent for sleep, anxiety, and PMS

Check in with yourself today to see what habits you might be able to shift in order to better protect your precious magnesium stores!

One of the simplest ways to support your health is completely free… grounding.

Grounding (or earthing) simply means connecting your body directly to the earth — like walking barefoot on grass, sand, or soil.

Research suggests this connection may help:
- Reduce inflammation
- Improve sleep
- Calm the nervous system
- Support circulation
- Reduce stress

In modern life we spend most of our time wearing shoes and indoors, disconnected from the earth. Just 10–20 minutes barefoot outside can help your body reset.

Simple ways to try it:
• Walk barefoot on the grass
• Sit outside with your feet on the ground
• Garden with bare hands
• Swim in the ocean
• Stretch or do yoga outside

Sometimes the most powerful health tools are the simplest ones
Do you ever walk barefoot outside? Tell me in the comments 👇

I’ve been putting this off for far too long, but last Monday I finally went and had a full skin check done.

I’ve got quite a few moles and hadn’t had them checked in years. With a family history of skin cancer — and living under the harsh New Zealand sun — I knew it was something I shouldn’t keep delaying. It felt like an important bit of self-care to tick off.

The appointment itself was quick and easy — about 30 minutes with the skin specialist. I also had an AI mole-mapping scan done, which means next time they’ll be able to track any changes or spot new ones early.

Definitely feeling relieved I got it done.

When was the last time you had your skin checked?

🥗 Could Your Diet Be Behind Your Health Struggles?

I see clients every day dealing with a range of health concerns—from gut issues like stomach pain and bloating, to joint pain, hormone imbalances, mood swings, brain fog, weight issues and thyroid problems. What many don’t realise when they first come to see me is how much their diet plays a role in these conditions.

Through testing for food intolerances with applied kinesiology, we uncover foods that may be contributing to your symptoms. By removing these foods and adding the right supplements (based on your individual needs), we often see dramatic improvements in your health.

If you suspect food intolerances are affecting your health, call us 022 017 6033 or book an appointment online https://www.thenaturopathicclinic.co.nz/

🌿 Feeling Grateful After My Liver and Gallbladder Flush!

I’m thrilled to be on the other side of my annual liver and gallbladder flush. I have to admit it’s not my favourite thing but I believe that doing multiple flushes years ago significantly contributed to my health improvements. The stones and bile sludge I passed back then was mind blowing (I won’t post the pictures as they’re a bit gross😝)

I am genetically predisposed to gallbladder issues—both my mum and grandmother had theirs removed—and my genetic testing confirmed mutations related to gallbladder function. I am determined to look after my gallbladder as I don’t want to get it removed.

Signs of Gallbladder Issues:
• Fatty food intolerance or nausea after eating fatty foods
• Constipation or SIBO
• Bloating after meals
• Right shoulder blade pain or upper right abdomen pain
• Nausea after eating fatty foods
• Hormonal imbalances & deficiencies (particularly fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K)

The gallbladders job is to store bile, which helps break down fats, and maintaining its health is key to overall digestion and well-being. Some ways to support gallbladder health include doing coffee enemas, castor oil packs, and bitter foods.

If you’re thinking about doing a liver and gallbladder flush, it’s important to follow the right protocol. The preparation and supplements to soften the stones and open the bile ducts are just as important as the flush itself. We have a specific protocol we use in clinic using herbs and coffee enemas to prepare the liver and gallbladder for the flush.

TESTIMONIAL
Jenny is incredible. I saw her with debilitating migraine symptoms and with her regime of supplements I am able to function normally. She also accurately diagnosed food intolerances in both my babies - their reflux completely disappeared when I removed the foods from the diet - Ingrid.

Do you have Headaches, Migraines or Joint Pain?

Are you living with unexplained pain—whether it’s headaches, migraines, or muscle and joint discomfort—and not sure what's causing it?

It might surprise you, but food intolerances could be behind that ongoing inflammation. Yes, the foods you eat could be contributing to those persistent aches and pains 🍞

The good news? Eating the right foods for your body can make a world of difference.

If you're ready to uncover the connection between your diet and pain, let’s chat! You can book a one-on-one consultation with me.

Hi there! It’s been a while since I’ve introduced myself, so here goes!

I’m Jenny, a Naturopath based in Hamilton, NZ. I’m married to Mike, and we have two wonderful sons, age 20 and 22.

My journey into natural health started after I struggled with poor health for many years. In my 20s, I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a painful autoimmune condition that took a toll on my life. I went down the medical route but I felt like the medical system failed me as my pain was getting worse and so was the rest of my health and I knew there must be a better way.

Everything changed when I discovered Naturopathy. I found a great Naturopath who tested me for food intolerances and got me on the right supplements, my symptoms reduced and some disappeared completely. The results were life-changing!

This sparked my desire to shift careers from accounting to becoming a Naturopath, with the goal of helping others experience the same transformation.

I’ve been practicing for over 13 years now, and it’s been the most rewarding experience to witness my clients achieve health breakthroughs through natural methods.

I’m passionate about helping others transform their health. Personally, my health is very important to me so I do my best to live a balanced life with healthy food, daily exercise, stress management, and regular detoxing practices. In my spare time I love to paint and read.

If you’re looking to take control of your health naturally, I’d love to work with you.

New Year, New Experiences! 💫 What's on your radar for 2026?

I've jumped straight into personal growth with an amazing retreat with liveinflow in Byron Bay. It involved meditation, sound healing (that was new to me and amazing), embodiment yoga and breath work. It was truly inspiring and one of the best experiences of my life.

But hey, that's what growth looks like, right? Stepping into uncharted territory, making decisions that push us beyond our comfort zones.

What about you? 🤔 What exciting plans do you have for this year?

What's that one thing you're willing to commit to, that will push you to grow and evolve? It's all about dedicating time and making a plan to embrace the new and unfamiliar – it’s so good for us!

And if you feel you didn’t do things last year that pushed you to move outside of your comfort zone enough, then now is a good time to see just how far you could push. Maybe it’s trying a new dance class, joining a networking group to seek more connection or maybe its tapping into some sort of creative outlet that you have been thinking about for a while, but putting off.

This year, I'm all about making the leap, taking risks, and exploring new horizons.

Share your commitments to growth and challenges below! Say it out loud and make those commitment with me - Let’s head on this journey together! 🌿💪
