This looks like a wonderful course .
As women, we have capabilities that most of us remain unaware of.
Because, as birthing women, we have been systemically robbed of a very unique experience: of the moment where we can meet our full capacity and learn to trust ourselves entirely; of the moment that feels so incredible that the story we keep telling to each other is the exact opposite of that potential experience.
I am talking about the pushing-your-baby-out stage in childbirth. Not the scene when medical professionals tell you to count and push, because your cervix is dilated. Not when they tell you not to push because there is not enough dilation. Not when they instruct you to breathe.
I am talking about that unique combination of adrenaline and oxytocin that “puts you into one of the most blissful and powerful stages of your life, one that you may never experience again”, as pointed out by Melanie The Midwife from The Great Birth Rebellion podcast.
How come most of us are systemically not given a chance to live the most powerful experience of our lives, through creating a setting and giving us instructions that are not conducive to bringing us into that superpower mode?
Listen to the podcast episode on pushing (link in the comment) - it’s a must whether you are pregnant, have ever birthed a baby, or plan ever to have one. I can’t emphasise enough how important this discussion is and how widespread it should be.
Melanie also mentions instinctive movements that birthing women do to help their baby navigate the pelvis. “You want your baby to move through your pelvis, you've got to move in the way that your body's instructing you.”
If you need to explore understanding your body’s “instructions” and listening to yourself better in an embodied way, message me about the “Movement for Pregnancy and Labour” course in Term 4. I haven’t set the dates yet, but it would be our last round of 2025, suitable if you are due in December or later.
