For those needing urgent care, our services are open and we are here to help. ❤️
If you have a minor illness, or are feeling sick and it is not an emergency, please call Healthline on 0800 611 116 for FREE 24-hour health advice or call your GP.
On arrival, anyone presenting to ED will be assessed by a nurse and then prioritised for treatment based on their assessed level of clinical need.

National Volunteer Week 2024
Whiria te tangata – weaving the people together
From June 16-22 we celebrate National Volunteer Week and the generosity and kindness of our many committed volunteers.
📢 A big shout-out to all of our Health NZ volunteers who work for us in the Waikato!🌻
They bring the gift of time, patience and experience, served with a smile taking away some of the stress for people navigating the hospital environment.
Their collective contribution strengthens our service. Whether it’s driving people to appointments, playing music to lift spirits, or simply spending time with patients, our health system couldn’t do what it does without you. Thank you. ❤️

Some of our junior doctors intend to strike for a second time, from 7:00am Thursday 16 May until 8:00am Saturday 18 May.

If the strike goes ahead, all emergency departments will remain open and hospital patients will receive safe care.

Please attend any scheduled outpatient appointment or treatment, unless you are contacted directly.

If you have non-urgent ailments or injuries, contact your GP in the first instance. If you are unsure if you need emergency department care, contact your GP or call Healthline (0800 611 116) for free advice.

GOUT FLARES BREAKING YOUR STRIDE?
Join our research if you are interested in becoming a part of a gout study – EURELIA 2 Study

❓ Do you have gout with high uric acid levels?
❓ Do you want to help us stride ahead in gout research?

The EURELIA 2 Study is designed to evaluate whether an investigational medication, taken daily by mouth for 12 months, can reduce uric acid levels and gout flare-ups in people aged between 18 and 85 years.

If you or a family/whānau member would like to learn more about the EURELIA 2 Study and what it means to take part, please contact the Rheumatology Clinic at Waikato Hospital by emailing rheumadministrator@waikatodhb.health.nz

If you do contact the study centre, it does not mean that you have to or will be able to take part; the study team will tell you more about the study when you speak to them.
