Dr Steve Joe Integrative Medicine

Dr Steve Joe Integrative Medicine Dr Steve Joe BHB. MB. ChB. Dip. Obst. FRNZCGP I qualified as a medical doctor in 1981 from Auckland University. I trained initially in General Practice.

After that I became interested in alternative health and trained in acupuncture. This led me to explore various other complementary methods and in 2001 I started practicing Applied Kinesiology. I regularly travel to Australia to continue training in this field. Where possible, I use science based proven methods in my practice, but I also acknowledge that the basis of some methods I use defy scientific explanation However these methods are measurable and reproducible. Some methods use the body's energy system to improve your well being. Memberships:

After over 10 years of working with me, Kate has now gone out on her own.
It is a proud moment for both of us as it shows how much she has developed her skills and clinical expertise. She has gone from advising on nutrition to qualifying as a naturopath and creating her own style and interests, allowing us to dive deeper into complex cases for better client outcomes. Over the years, it has been good to bounce ideas off each other and give each other different perspectives.
As a. result of her input, we have both become better practitioners. Her contribution has been invaluable to the growth of the practice.
Kate will still work out of the clinic and also consult in Cambridge.
As we are now separate clinics, please direct any enquiries for her to https://www.katemoffat.co.nz,

It has been ten years since Kate first started working with me. Initially, she helped out with nutrition plans for my patients, but she learned fast and became a practitioner in her own right. I knew from the start that she was going to be great because of her passion, care, attention to detail, and ability to bring a different perspective to the old man she works with. Together, we have explored a wider range of topics and ways to help our patients. It has been an amazing journey of discovery and learning. She has developed into a widely respected practitioner, and I would trust her with my life.

Thursday 21st December will be our last day for the year. We will reopen on the 8th Jan 2024. Have a great break everyone.

Thanks for the enquiries for our nurse position. This has now been filled.

13/03/2023

We are on the hunt for a nurse to join our clinic one day a week. This role mainly involves administering IV therapies, stock control, ordering IV supplies and general clinic tasks.
This would suit someone who has an understanding of what we do as a clinic and is passionate about natural health. We are a small team and are looking for someone who will seamlessly fit in.

We aim to create and foster a healing and nurturing environment for those coming in for IV therapy, it is more than just coming in for treatment it is coming together with others on a similar health journey for support and encouragement.

Experience administering IVs is essential.

If you or someone you know would be interested in this role please pass on the details or email steve@drstevejoe.co.nz

More details and a job description are available on request.

https://www.parliament.nz/en/pb/bills-and-laws/bills-proposed-laws/document/BILL_130084/therapeutic-products-bill

The Therapeutics Products bill is going before Parliament on the 5th March. Please spare 15mins of your time this weekend to make a submission. This is our only chance to influence the Bill and it will be one of the most important things you can do for your healthcare.

In its present form, the Bill is very vague and open to interpretation.

It has the potential to affect the cost and variety of supplements and herbs you can get and we regard this as a significant over reach of government regulations.

Please email us with "Therapeutics Products bill" in the subject line to reception@drstevejoe.co.nz if you require more information, an easy to use template and ideas on how to make a submission

If everyone makes some noise, then hopefully we can stop it from being passed.

It was great to get back on the bike again after so long. I feel almost back to normal after a difficult few months. Lucky Jett and dad Dean were there to show me the way again.

It has been 9 weeks since my surgery and I am finally coming right. Major surgery can always be complicated, and mine was no different. It took 7.5 hours, and I lost 2 litres of blood. Despite that, after 2-3 days, I was feeling pretty good, but then I started getting more pain and became quite despondent. After 10 days, I found out that I had a large collection of lymph fluid and I had to have a drain put in for 3 weeks until this settled down. It was a relief to get the pressure taken off with the drain. For the last 2 weeks I have been drain and catheter free and am starting to get more mobile. I played 9 holes of golf yesterday and sadly, playing without a prostate doesn't make me any better. I still have a bit more recovery to do, but I aim to start work part time next week. I have been so grateful for all the support I have had, from my wife Miriam who has been my nurse, and my family, work mates and friends who have supported me. It has made this journey a lot easier (music, YouTube and Netflix, and books have also got a thrashing)

I want to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to respond to my post. “How are you” is such a throwaway line, but it wasn’t until I learnt of my diagnosis that I realised that it wasn’t, that people were interested in how I was. That isn’t how I thought it worked - I am the doctor and should be asking you, not the other way around. Once I realised that people wanted to know how I was, I struggled with how to broach the subject because as the doctor, I should focus on your health, not the other way around. It was the “elephant in the room” so it is a relief to get it out there because I wanted you all to know how I was without you having to wonder why I was taking time out. Our relationship is built on honesty, and I didn’t want to hide this from you.

I have been overwhelmed by the response, so thank you. It means a lot.

Each message generated a memory of the times we saw each other, and I was chuffed to hear from my old (or not so old) Ngaruawahia patients and other people I haven't seen in ages. Ngaruawahia is where I learnt how to be a doctor, and it is amazing how a message from the past can generate a memory as if it happened yesterday. So I am grateful that you have taken the time to remember us. I want to thank all my present patients too, I would like to think that our relationship is more than a doctor-patient one and that we can tell each other anything because it helps to heal.
I will keep you all up to date on what is happening, I am confident that it will all go well. I will be re-reading all your messages of support when I am recuperating because I know it will help.

(The clinic will still be open whilst I am away)
