How Ecstatic Dance started

Who created Ecstatic Dance Hamilton? Ecstatic Dance Hamilton is founded by Rozemarije. Roze is a dancer by nature. All her life she has been working with her body through dance, martial arts, Qi Gong, yoga and more. This natural way and love of expressing herself with her body she now shares as a teacher.

Originally from the Netherlands Roze started Ecstatic Dance as soon as she arrived in New Zealand after a sailing trip of two years. “I had been missing Ecstatic Dance so much, I couldn’t wait to have the same special event in my life again”. In Amsterdam Ecstatic Dance is held twice a week (Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings) with every time a full dance floor of around 200 man and different DJ’s who take you on a magical music journey. This is now starting and expanding in Hamilton.

“To me Ecstatic Dance is truly a blessing, a gift I want to share with others. It is one of those beautiful means that enhance the quality of life. To dance for joy, for physical and mental rehabilitation, for authentic communication and for celebrating being together.”

Origin: Ecstatic Dance had his origin in Hawaii and started in 2000 every week on Sunday mornings. Donna Carroll and Tyler Blank started Ecstatic Dance in San Francisco and have since inspired communities around the world to start their own Conscious Dances.
