Meditrain Waikato

Meditrain Waikato MediTrain has been providing quality First Aid courses to the community and businesses since 1991.

MediTrain has created and published all their own training material, including manuals and visual material which are relevant to New Zealanders. Relevant First Aid training

hing our courses are underpinned by the desire to provide every individual with relevant and practical training that provides them with the skills and confidence to cope in emergency situations. Furthermore, our courses help to increase health and safety in communities by promoting safety awareness, injury prevention and injury recovery. To achieve these goals we consult with our clients in order to get clear ideas about their specific needs. We then combine our expertise in First Aid training with research findings and the knowledge and experience of experts in the various domains to develop tailored relevant First Aid courses.

Most of us notice when something’s not quite right with someone we care about.
A colleague who’s gone quiet.
A friend who keeps cancelling plans.
A family member who just seems… off.
The hard part isn’t noticing. It’s knowing what to do next.
We’ve put together a new article on mental health first aid, what it actually is, why early support matters, and how everyday people can respond with confidence.
If you’ve ever hesitated to say something because you weren’t sure how, this is worth a read.

Most people learn first aid thinking help is 10–15 minutes away.
But what happens when it’s not?
In many parts of New Zealand, you could be managing someone for 40 minutes, an hour, or longer. On a tramping track. On a farm. Offshore. In your own community.
That’s the gap most first aid courses don’t cover.
Pre-Hospital Emergency Care (PHEC) training is about what comes next. Monitoring, decision-making, airway management, keeping someone alive while you wait.
It’s not about being a hero.
It’s about being useful when it really matters.
If you’re someone who spends time outdoors, or just wants to be able to step up when something goes wrong, this is worth a look.

Jillian never expected to use her first aid training at 5:23am on a quiet morning in Bulls. But when her husband Matt collapsed and stopped breathing, everything she’d learned with MediTrain came straight back.
She called 111. She started CPR. She kept going until help arrived, and Matt survived.
We were so impressed by Jillian’s courage and quick action, and by the volunteer team who helped save Matt, that we presented her with a MediTrain First Responder Award. 💝
Jillian’s story is a powerful reminder that most cardiac arrests happen at home — and the person you save is often someone you love.
First aid isn’t just for work. It can save a life.

🚑 A few quick actions can save a life. When 80-year-old Rick collapsed on his morning walk, two cyclists nearby acted fast, calling 111, starting CPR, and using an AED. Rick survived because his community was ready.
This Restart a Heart Day (Thursday 16 October), take a minute to learn where your nearest AED is, or book a first aid course to learn CPR.
Every minute counts. Every action matters. Find your local first aid course at https://www.meditrain.co.nz/

📚 Ever wondered what happens in the online learning part of your first aid course?
At MediTrain, we’ve built ours from the ground up to be easy, engaging, and genuinely useful — not just another hoop to jump through.
This blog explains how our online learning works, why we built it this way, and what to expect before you show up for your in-person session.

🚑 First aid saves lives. In honour of World First Aid Day (13 September), we’re sharing three real stories where MediTrain training made the difference:
- A student calmly saved a baby choking in the supermarket
- A brother performed CPR on the rugby field and saved his sibling’s life
- A class worked together to save a life during training itself
These moments remind us why first aid matters — it gives you the skills and confidence to act when every second counts.
First aid isn’t just for the workplace — it can save someone you love.
