It has really hit me lately how hard and isolating the grind can be when you operate your own small business. Especially during these new and ever changing times.

This new landscape has pulled and pushed me in all directions to get more creative and to strive for new norms.

When I first started the lil oil spot 5 years ago it was from pure naivety and the thought of just giving it a “crack”. If it worked out ka pai me. Looking back now I don’t even know if I even thought of the alternative.

I had no formal training or business know how just a desire to be able to provide others with affordable options so they could create their own magic at home.

I had no projected vision for beyond the what was “now” and just trusted that all would work out.

I have enjoyed the unknowns and at times the hardships as they have allowed me to delve deeper into discovering those new norms.

And yes!! My new norm is definitely rationalising talking to myself and reassuring myself that everything will be okay which I am now labelling as “staff meetings” 😂

My business is no where near perfect and if I was to be honest I don’t know what that even looks like. What I do know is I am one of those business owners that does a wee happy dance each time and order comes through and when I pack each one carefully it is done so with great fullness.
