Christmas can be a difficult time of the year for many - some are missing those who have passed, some feel extra pressure to spend, budgets are constrained, workloads increase, we are tired and stressed, and patience wears thin.

But it’s important to remember the simple pleasures in these times, connecting with friends & whānau virtually or face to face, taking a moment to rest, sharing kai, being kind to one another, and appreciating the beautiful country we live in.

🩺 If you need us, The Good Doctor medical practice in Commerce Street, Frankton Hamilton will be open 8am-6pm during ALL Public Holidays and Saturdays (the only day we close throughout the year is on Sundays)

Kia Ora everyone, you may be aware that industrial strike action by Nurses, Healthcare assistants (HCAs) and some Midwives employed by Te Whatu Ora/Health NZ is scheduled for 24 hours, from tomorrow 9am Wednesday 30 July until 9am Thursday 31 July.

Below is an overview of how services may be affected to help our patients plan accordingly and defer non-urgent visits to ED where possible (which should be the case even in non-strike times).

Unfortunately all our systems are currently down due to a nationwide issue with our practice management software provider MedTech.

As a result of this our computers, phone lines and internet are not working. We are experiencing difficulties seeing patients as no records can be accessed and are currently unable to contact those with bookings.

We will make an update as soon as all the systems are running.

Sincere apologies for all the inconvenience this is causing.n

Happy Easter everyone!

With school holidays and a few public holidays coming up, a reminder that we are OPEN on public holidays if you need us.

Since Easter Sunday is celebrated on Monday our practice is closed on Sunday but open on Monday.

🤧Flu season is here, and the best way to protect yourself, your family, and your community is by getting the flu vaccine.

👩‍💻📲 We are now offering flu vaccinations and you can directly BOOK ONLINE on our website www.gooddoctor.co.nz/flu

🆓 The vaccine is FREE for those aged 65 and over as well as people with chronic health conditions under the age of 65 (see full criteria on our website). For those who are not funded the cost is $35

🩷 The flu can cause serious illness, especially for young children, older adults, pregnant women, and those with underlying health conditions.

Today, our team spent time with multiple NGOs and social service providers in Hamilton at a hui hosted by Tuu Oho Mai focussed on addressing Family Violence.

Every 4 minutes, NZ Police respond to a family harm incident. That’s over 130,000 callouts a year. But we know this is just the tip of the iceberg - many victims suffer in silence.

Family violence isn’t just physical. It can be emotional, financial, or psychological. It can happen to anyone, regardless of age, gender, or background.

This is why, at our practice we talk about family violence, because it affects your health and we believe that together, we can break the cycle.
