Let’s be honest—over time, our skin can develop lumps, bumps, and spots that weren’t there before. While many are harmless, it’s important to make sure they’re not something more serious.

With summer just around the corner, now is the perfect time to protect your skin and book a full skin check. Regular checks, combined with daily sun protection, are key to catching skin cancer early and keeping your skin healthy for years to come.

Stay sun smart. Stay skin safe.

When it comes to moles, follow this rule: If it grows, it goes.

Early detection and regular monitoring are vital in preventing and detecting skin cancer. Keep watch for changes in size, shape, color, or texture, and don’t ignore any new moles that appear. If you notice anything suspicious, take action—book an appointment with a healthcare professional for a thorough check and, if needed, a biopsy.

Regular skin checks and self-exams are your strongest defence in catching skin cancer early, when it’s most treatable.

After a tummy tuck or breast surgery, scars go through a long healing process. In the first 12 months, they are still immature, meaning the tissue is more fragile, sensitive, and reactive.

Exposure to the sun during this stage can:

👉Cause scars to darken or become permanently discoloured (hyperpigmentation)

👉Slow down the natural fading process

👉Increase the risk of thickened or more visible scarring

For these reasons, it’s recommended to keep scars completely covered or protected from UV exposure for the first year after surgery. After that, high-SPF sunscreen and sensible sun protection remain important for maintaining the best long-term result.

Over winter, we tend to stay covered up in heavier clothing, making it easy to miss new or changing moles, lumps, or bumps on our skin. But as the warmer months approach and we spend more time outdoors in lighter clothing, it becomes the ideal moment to prioritise your skin health. Remember—skin cancer doesn’t hibernate during winter. A full-body skin check now can help detect changes early and give you peace of mind for the summer ahead.

When considering plastic surgery, your choice of surgeon should always be your top priority. Safety, outcomes, and overall satisfaction depend greatly on the qualifications and experience of the professional you trust. Always begin by verifying board certification and medical credentials—this ensures your surgeon has undergone the highest level of training and meets strict professional standards. Reviewing before-and-after photos gives insight into their aesthetic approach, while patient reviews on platforms like Google, WebMD, and RealSelf provide valuable perspectives on the overall care experience. WHY CORE VALUES MATTER IN PLASTIC SURGERY

When it comes to patient care, core values aren’t just a nice-to-have — they’re essential. For plastic surgeons, these values shape every decision, interaction, and treatment plan.

* They ensure patient safety
* Build lasting trust
* Guide ethical, compassionate care
* Strengthen relationships
* Set the foundation for long-term success

When a surgeon leads with integrity, excellence, and empathy, patients feel the difference — and that’s what truly sets a practice apart.
