🌿 Celebrating Cultural Commitment at Hastings Health Centre 🌿
We’re proud to celebrate Hastings Health Centre enrolling in Te Kura Nui – Cultural Responsiveness 🌱
This commitment reflects a genuine desire to grow understanding of te ao Māori, including the deeper meanings behind the Māori names gifted to their clinical suites. By learning the pūrākau, values, and significance held within these names, the team is strengthening their connection to place, people, and purpose.
This is an important step toward creating a culturally safe, welcoming environment for whānau and community—where names are not just spoken, but truly understood and honoured.
👏 Ka rawe, Hastings Health Centre, for leading with curiosity, respect, and commitment to equity in health.

Honouring Excellence in Primary Healthcare
We continue to share the stories of our Hawke’s Bay Faculty of GPs Primary Healthcare Award winners — individuals and teams who go above and beyond every day for patients, whānau, and their communities.
Our award winners were peer-nominated and each post will highlight why they were recognized and the impact of their mahi across our region. While we celebrate these award recipients, we also want to acknowledge the dedication of everyone working in primary healthcare — from general practice and community pharmacy to allied health, kaiāwhina, and support roles.

Our final award winner we wish to recognise is Anne McLean of Taradale Medical Centre
After an incredible 36 years of service, she will retire later this year having led with heart as Taradale's Nurse Manager — championing everything from Cornerstone, immunisations and diabetes clinics to equity initiatives like Te Reo Tuesdays, as well as projects such as their gout programme and Continuous Glucose Monitor pilot. Her gentle, kind leadership has shaped a strong, confident nursing team, and while her shoes will be impossible to fill, her incredible mahi will live on through those she has trained.

💚 So proud of Tamatea Medical Centre! 💚

Big mihi to the team for stepping into their first Level 2 wānanga at EIT Hawke's Bay. For many, this was a brand‑new experience, and it was awesome to see everyone show up with open hearts and a willingness to learn.
We were also beautifully welcomed on by a Hawke’s Bay Health Pouārahi from Te Pou Tawa, who is continuing her Level 4 journey with EIT — such a special moment of shared learning and whakawhanaungatanga.
Ngā mihi nui to everyone involved. Your commitment to growth, connection, and kaupapa Māori truly shines. 🌿✨
