We have work available in our extraction plant starting immediately until the end of March 2023.
You will be extracting fresh honey from frames into drums. Training is provided and no experience is necessary.
►Available for full time hours Monday to Friday from 7am (daytime only)
►Must be reliable and self-motivated, no time wasters
►Training provided for busy honey extraction plant
►Must not be allergic or scared of bees
►Physically fit and able to work on your feet all day and lift boxes of honey

FORKLIFT OPERATOR / BULK HONEY ASSISTANT REQUIRED IN HASTINGS HONEY PLANT

We are seeking a FORKLIFT OPERATOR / BULK HONEY ASSISTANT that will assist the Bulk Honey team from November to March. Included in the day-to-day tasks is taking samples of honey so accuracy is critical.

The Role
As a Forklift Operator / Bulk Honey Assistant reporting to the Bulk Honey Manager you will:
• Primarily pick lists and move full drums of honey between our warehouses ready for processing
• Take samples of honey and prepare them for being tested
• May uplift, move and unload our harvested honey from our other regions and deliver it back to Hawkes Bay
• May help out with extracting honey from honey frames in a production environment
• The role is more than just forklifting drums - you will be on and off the forklift taking samples etc

Skills and Experience
• Forklift license is essential
• A clean Class 2 driver’s license is desirable
• Attention to detail and accuracy with numbers
• Have good verbal and written communication skills
• Be honest, reliable and a high level of self-management
• Be enthusiastic and willing to take on a challenge
• Be physically fit and able to perform all tasks
• Show good initiative and able to follow instructions
• No bee allergies and not afraid of bees
• Drug free

The Role
As a Beekeeper reporting to the Beekeeping Manager you will:

- Excellent beekeeping skills to develop strong hives, healthy bees and queens
- Ensure pollination and honey product prospects are maximised
- Collect and process honey
- Work as part of a close-knit team and provide support to other team members

Skills and Experience
The successful applicant will be DECA qualified who has:

- Proven experience in a commercial beekeeping environment including: hive maintenance, manipulation, splitting, swarm control, feeding, re-queening, disease prevention, honey harvesting and honey extraction
- Ability to shift, transport and repair hives
- Must be a team player and able to work hard alongside your team mates
- Experience rearing queens would be an advantage
- Having a class 2 licence with no prior convictions and a current forklift licence would be an advantage
