He Pānui:

Margaret Rose Wong (aka Margie)

8 April 1952 - 7 March 2026
Aged nearly 74 years

He uri nō Omahu - Ngāti Hinemanu, Ngāi Te Upokoiri, Ngāti Honomōkai.

Daughter of William Barry (Buck) Wong and Atareta Wong (nee Pineaha). Mum and Nan of Simon and mokos. Sister of Lotus (dec’d), Viki Jones, Lucy (dec’d), Marge Wong, Irene (dec’d) Phyl (Narn) Peni, Tony (dec’d), Buck (dec’d), Willie (dec’d) and Anna Muraahi. Pocket rocket Aunty of Julie, Vicki, Varni and Lisa.

She was exacting in everything she did and she was an unapologetic hygiene freak so in the last couple of days we have remembered her with a mixture of both tears and laughter as we've moved to execute her final arrangements just as she requested it. Even in her death her explicit instructions had us all cracking up because everything she asked of us was so her and so not us lol.

Today, following a private, simple service with her immediate family, and in keeping with her wishes, Margie was taken for cremation. Arrangements for her return to Omahu and burial at Omahu urupā following the cremation will be confirmed soon.

Aunty Margie - e tangi ana te ngākau i tō wehenga atu. Kua mū tō reo, kua wahangū tō kata. Hoake ki te iti kahurangi e tatari ana ki a koe. E kui, e moe, e okioki.
