We’re promoting HPV self-swabs — a quick, easy, and private way to check your cervical health.

If you’re more traditional and prefer a smear test, we can do that too — whatever feels right for you.

🩺 Kia tūpato e te whānau – Mosquito Bites & Mate Huka (Diabetes) 🦟

E te whānau, those living with mate huka (diabetes) need to take extra care of their skin — even small bites or scratches can take longer to heal and may lead to infection.

🌿 Tips to protect yourself:
• Use insect repellent and wear long sleeves/pants when outside.
• Keep your skin clean and moisturised — avoid dryness and cracking.
• Check your feet and legs daily for bites, sores or swelling.
• If a bite becomes red, painful, or doesn’t heal, see your nurse or GP straight away.
•. Cover up, even while sleeping.

Please don’t feel offended if we kōrero with you about Measles (MMR) and your vaccination status.
We’ve activated our Measles Clinic Plan to help keep our mahi and community safe in case a measles case walks through our doors.

You may notice our trained staff asking a few extra questions about:
✔️ Feeling unwell
✔️ Rash
✔️ Fever
✔️ Watery or runny eyes

Measles outbreak update, Thursday 6 Nov

There are no new measles cases today. The total number of confirmed cases remains at 17, and all are no longer infectious.
The outbreak is still ongoing, and Health New Zealand is focused on stamping out further spread. An outbreak can only be declared over after 42 days with no new cases - so we’re not there yet.

⚠️ More cases are expected, and New Zealand remains at high risk.

We’ll keep sharing updates as new information becomes available.

What you can do:

✅ Immunisation is your best protection. Two doses of the MMR vaccine protect ~99% of people.
✅ Check your immunisation status with your healthcare provider.
✅ Get vaccinated at clinics, GPs, or participating pharmacies - many offer walk-ins. Find your closest pharmacy giving MMR on healthpoint.co.nz
✅ Stay home if you're unwell and watch for symptoms.

🩺 Measles symptoms include:

• High fever, cough, runny nose, sore red eyes
• Rash starting on the face, spreading down the body
