Donald Joseph POWELL. Passed away peacefully at home in Huntly on Monday, 23 February 2026, aged 79 years.
Dearly loved husband of the late Leanne. Treasured dad of Joseph (deceased) and Richard. Loved brother of John and Julie Cooper.

A private cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at the Kimihia Cemetery (main gate) on Tuesday, 24 March at 11am.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, sons, Timothy, Andrew, Alexis, Kristof and grand daughter, Lilya.

Former husband of Edith for 38 years. Much loved father and father-in-law of Mathew and Beth, the late Cameron, Cathy and Dave, and Elise.
Adored grandad of Thomas and Cara, Alex and Mia. Loved brother of Judy, and the late Val, Pat and Raewyn. Loved uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

The past few weeks we have had our Ford Fairlane hearse away for some rust and dent repairs by Rob at Taupiri Smash Repairs in Ngaruawahia follwed by some prep and and a beaut paint makeover by Ben and the team at Supreme Panel and Paint in Te Rapa. So pleased with the end result! Looking very smart indeed in a very dark metalic navy blue! Keep an eye out for it in your travels!

Grief is hard enough without the silent pressure of shoulds.
I should host. I should be happier. I should keep traditions going.
But you don’t owe the world a festive version of yourself.
You’re allowed to set boundaries.
You’re allowed to choose what you can manage.
And you’re allowed to protect your heart—especially at this time of year.

If the expectations feel overwhelming, give yourself permission to do only what feels right for you.

Dearly loved husband and soul mate of Jeanette for 66 years. Loved and treasured father and father-in-law of David and Glenys, Bruce and Wendy, Carolyn and Pete.
Loved and adored grandad of Luke and Nicole, and Kirsty; Jessica and Carl, Thomas and Ashlin; Ethan, Aaron, Scott and Megan. Great grandad of 11 1/2 great grandchildren.
