Yesterday lily wasnt feeling great we had tummy aches in the morning sobbing before school. After hugs and a chat about the tummy ache I said come to yoga see how you feel.
Mondays are always a small intimate class perfect for those that dont like large groups. Lily asked if she could do the class. I was surprised as lily finds it very difficult to focus and I wondered how she would go.
SHE WAS AMAZING 👏 she did the whole class. She was focused she practiced the breathing and even managed to relax during our Savasana. Which she normally struggles with in the kids classes.
Afterwards I noticed how her mood had lifted she was happy, tummy ache had gone, she was positive and relaxed.
I also realised what she had learnt during this time was so valuable and wasnt what she could get from school.
Lily learnt :
✨️How to ground and regulate those big emotions through moving her body
✨️ she learnt how to listen to her body
✨️ she learnt that breath work helps her nervous system
✨️ she also saw mum at work and connecting to others, she saw empathy, she saw other adults show there vulnerability and emotions, she saw how i reacted and how i gave empathy and how we hold space for others. And how its ok to be sad its a normal emotion.
✨️ lily also witnessed other woman connecting and sharing stories, coming together to support each other.
lily learnt alot that she may not of got from school that day and it did her the world of good. Thank you to the ladies that came on monday thank you for accepting lily in class and thank you for being you and choosing me to hold space for you ✨️✨️✨️
Oh and this morning after lilys re set she went off to school with a smile 😃
This session gave me a big awareness too. And if people are keen I'm going to try a teens class age 12 -16 years. This class will be much like how i run a adult class. Breathing to begin grounding, yoga flow, calming meditation and savasana. There will be open chat before class about how our week was and were there any challenges we will then discuss as a group. This class will help support girls in this emotional teen times, and they will learn and experience everything lily did. They will walk away feeling focused, calm and positive.
