π Spotlight on Windsor Physio in Invercargill π
Weβre proud to highlight the incredible work being done by Windsor Physio a PINC & STEEL Provider clinic with three certified Oncology Physiotherapistsβ Olivia van Schaik, Josh Hall and Kate McCulloch and the most wonderful office administrator Trish Familton. Together, they deliver exceptional care to people affected by cancer in Southland, helping them regain strength, confidence, and quality of life.
Their dedication and expertise have left a lasting impact, as shared by their clients:
πΈ"Last September, I was diagnosed with stage 3 bowel cancer. My recovery from the surgery was initially very slow and painful. 3-4 weeks post-surgery, I realised that I needed to engage my pelvic floor in order to walk across a room. It was around that time that I was informed by the Cancer Society about PINC & STEEL. I knew how important it was for me to ensure that my recovery from surgery was the best I could make it to be. I didn't want to jeopardise my recovery, I wanted to give it my best shot at mending my core β rebuilding strength around my 13 cm incision on my abdomen. I am so grateful, for the opportunity to receive such treatment. I am no longer in pain and feel stronger and fitter now than I was pre diagnosis." Lisa
πΈ"After breast cancer treatment, attending a PINC & STEEL class allowed me to start getting back into exercise in an environment where I didnβt have to feel self-conscious about my bald head, no eyelashes, and the chemo port sticking out of my chest. I felt safe knowing the Physio was well trained in Oncology and understood what I had been through and what kind of exercise I needed. It was comforting to have the camaraderie with other women in all different stages of recovery. I could see my improvement in the class week to week, and it built my confidence to start increasing exercise at home. Averil
πΈ"When I was diagnosed with cancer, my focus was entirely on fighting itβI didnβt think about what came next. After a five-hour surgery for prostate cancer, I found myself unable to do basic things, like lifting my toddler daughter. As someone who used to compete in the Coast to Coast, it was hard to accept how much my body had changed. Rebuilding my core and getting back to the gym felt intimidating, but my physio recommended the PINC & STEEL group programme, and it was a game-changer. The support and guidance I received, along with the camaraderie of the group, made such a difference to my recovery. Now, I want to help as many Kiwis as possible access this incredible service. Itβs not just about physical recoveryβitβs about getting your life back." Nick
Thank you, Oliva, Kate, Josh and Trish, for the incredible care you provide to those navigating cancer recovery. Your work exemplifies the heart of what PINC & STEEL stands forβ personalised care, support, and community.π
