Safe. Supported. Seen. 💛

Childhood Depression Awareness Day reminds us that some young people are carrying more than we can see.

A simple check-in, a kind word, or just being present can make a real difference.

It’s about creating spaces where tamariki feel safe, supported, and never alone.

We also have a link on our website to SPARX- a free online game that helps young people work through stress and tough emotions in a safe, supportive way.

World Give Day is a reminder that giving doesn’t have to be big to make a difference 💛

It can be checking in on a mate, offering a ride home, sharing kai, or just being someone people can count on.

Small actions create strong communities, and that’s what it’s all about.

This World Give Day, think about how you can give back in a way that feels real for you and your crew.

Have a ball 💃🕺

School ball season is here. A big night for many rangatahi across our community.

It’s all about celebrating, making memories, and enjoying the night for the right reasons. That also means looking out for your mates, staying connected, and making sure everyone gets home safe.

A little preparation goes a long way. Parents, whānau, and organisers can check out our party guidelines tool to help plan for a safe and smooth night:

ANZAC Day is a time to remember, reflect, and honour those who served and sacrificed for us ❤️

It’s also a reminder that looking out for each other matters - then and now.

This ANZAC Day, check in on your mates. Whether it’s making sure everyone gets home safe, pacing yourself, or simply being there when someone needs it… small actions make a big difference.

Lest we forget. 🌺

Today we celebrate the people who quietly keep our communities strong 💛
The coaches, the event helpers, the committee members, the fundraisers, the ones who show up early and stay late.

Community volunteers give their time, energy, and heart - not for recognition, but because they care.

To every volunteer out there: thank you. Our communities are better because of you. 🌟

Respect the Game. Respect Each Other. 💙💛

We recently teamed up with Southland District Rugby League to ask their community one simple question:

“What does respect the game mean to you?”

The answers reminded us why people fall in love with rugby league in the first place:
🏉 looking after your teammates
🏉 playing hard but fair
🏉 respecting the refs and volunteers
🏉 and remembering the game is bigger than any one of us.

At What About You Murihiku, we know strong clubs create strong communities. Promoting respect, safety and good sportsmanship helps protect the wellbeing of everyone involved in the game we love.

Massive thanks to the Southland District Rugby League whānau for sharing their voices.

What does “respect the game” mean to you?

What happens when you choose alcohol-free?

In Part 2, Hunter talks about:
• The surprises he experienced after giving up alcohol
• How it’s helped his focus in sport
• Some unexpected benefits along the way

Sometimes the biggest gains aren’t just on the scoreboard.
