The Waikiwi Kindy kids came to entertain us today. It was scooter day so they rocked down on scooters and hi-vis. ❀️ Some fantastic singing and dancing was performed and then Judy read them a Christmas story before they jetted off on their scooters as the rain started. πŸŽ„β›„οΈπŸ›΄πŸŽ…

The sleeps are getting less to the big day. This afternoon we played Christmas Scrabble! The word we started with was of course Christmas!! Nurse Jo was a huge help, thank you, funny about the NY- New Year! The challenge was to only make Christmas related words... we did pretty well, only a few blanks to make some of the words. The residents enjoyed the activity while a Christmas song mix was been played on YouTube to get us into the festive spirit...πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Our Story

Waikiwi Gardens is more than just a place to live, it’s a rest home with heart, community and friendly faces. We pride ourselves on our community and family-based approach to care, treating all of our residents with the same respect you’d expect in a home environment. Our rest home is a beautiful and peaceful place, with the surrounding gardens often in bloom and providing a tranquil setting for our residents

The rest home caters for a variety of residents, including respite and palliative care. With a nurse on-call 24 hours a day and some of the best caregivers in the aged care industry, our residents have the best access to care and always safe and looked after. Our facilities, and the people that run them, provide support and stimulation to maximise each and every resident’s physical, intellectual emotional and social well-being. Our rest home and respite care is suitable for DHB-funded residents and respite care is also available for ACC clients.

We offer a busy activity programme with a huge variety of outings, crafts and entertainment. With fresh home baking on a daily basis and a huge variety of different meals offered, one of the biggest complaints we hear is how good the food is. Our wonderful cooks ensure all dietary needs are met and take pride in what they serve.

Waikiwi Gardens Rest Home also offers a day programme called Social Seniors. The programme is an opportunity for those outside of the rest home to come to us for the day, enjoy a hot meal and spend the day with fellow seniors in a range of varied and engaging activities. Transport to and from the rest home is provided.
