Lots of fun at the staff end of year lunch today. Loads of yummy food, followed by pass the parcel π¦ Sue was the lucky winner of the final layer prize. Next was a π π quiz which was hotly contested. Team Snowballs (Esther, Jack, Rachel and Linda) were the winners! π Merry Christmas everyone βΊοΈ

The Waikiwi Kindy kids came to entertain us today. It was scooter day so they rocked down on scooters and hi-vis. β€οΈ Some fantastic singing and dancing was performed and then Judy read them a Christmas story before they jetted off on their scooters as the rain started. πβοΈπ΄π

Big word challenge today... a Christmas π related word.... Gingerbread man....
We thought of 100 little words!! Well done everyone!!! This activity keeps the brain active and promotes good communication amongst the residents who played the game....π

The sleeps are getting less to the big day. This afternoon we played Christmas Scrabble! The word we started with was of course Christmas!! Nurse Jo was a huge help, thank you, funny about the NY- New Year! The challenge was to only make Christmas related words... we did pretty well, only a few blanks to make some of the words. The residents enjoyed the activity while a Christmas song mix was been played on YouTube to get us into the festive spirit...ππ

The rest home caters for a variety of residents, including respite and palliative care. With a nurse on-call 24 hours a day and some of the best caregivers in the aged care industry, our residents have the best access to care and always safe and looked after. Our facilities, and the people that run them, provide support and stimulation to maximise each and every residentβs physical, intellectual emotional and social well-being. Our rest home and respite care is suitable for DHB-funded residents and respite care is also available for ACC clients.
We offer a busy activity programme with a huge variety of outings, crafts and entertainment. With fresh home baking on a daily basis and a huge variety of different meals offered, one of the biggest complaints we hear is how good the food is. Our wonderful cooks ensure all dietary needs are met and take pride in what they serve.
Waikiwi Gardens Rest Home also offers a day programme called Social Seniors. The programme is an opportunity for those outside of the rest home to come to us for the day, enjoy a hot meal and spend the day with fellow seniors in a range of varied and engaging activities. Transport to and from the rest home is provided.
