Yesterday afternoon it was a super warm day, so we put some air conditioning on and enjoyed playing Floor Scrabble. We started off with Donna's suggestion....the word: INTERNATIONAL.
With only a small handful of letters to go, Nurse Jo came into the lounge to give us a helping hand...and she became very happy when she got to put her name on the board!! Well done Nurse Jo as you helped use all the letters up in the end! What a great activity for the residents which helps build teamwork, communication skills with each other, helps the brain keep fresh, along with having some good laughs too!!!! Great work everyone!!!

Our Story

Waikiwi Gardens is more than just a place to live, it’s a rest home with heart, community and friendly faces. We pride ourselves on our community and family-based approach to care, treating all of our residents with the same respect you’d expect in a home environment. Our rest home is a beautiful and peaceful place, with the surrounding gardens often in bloom and providing a tranquil setting for our residents

The rest home caters for a variety of residents, including respite and palliative care. With a nurse on-call 24 hours a day and some of the best caregivers in the aged care industry, our residents have the best access to care and always safe and looked after. Our facilities, and the people that run them, provide support and stimulation to maximise each and every resident’s physical, intellectual emotional and social well-being. Our rest home and respite care is suitable for DHB-funded residents and respite care is also available for ACC clients.

We offer a busy activity programme with a huge variety of outings, crafts and entertainment. With fresh home baking on a daily basis and a huge variety of different meals offered, one of the biggest complaints we hear is how good the food is. Our wonderful cooks ensure all dietary needs are met and take pride in what they serve.

Waikiwi Gardens Rest Home also offers a day programme called Social Seniors. The programme is an opportunity for those outside of the rest home to come to us for the day, enjoy a hot meal and spend the day with fellow seniors in a range of varied and engaging activities. Transport to and from the rest home is provided.
