Sometimes it’s the small, honest details that matter most — the boots by the fence, the tools well used, the dog never far away. A funeral can be shaped around the things that defined a life, honouring who someone truly was and the way they lived it.

There’s something comforting about knowing where to turn when the unexpected happens.

Some people don’t realise that you can call us at any time — day or night — and someone will always answer. We are a 24‑hour service, here whenever you need us. Whether it’s the middle of the night or early morning, you don’t need to wait or wonder what to do next. A simple phone call is all it takes.

Meet our team!

Amber started in the funeral industry in 2020 and has grown up around the funeral home, as she’s Mark Glanville’s step‑daughter. She’s known for being a great listener and for making a very good cuppa when it’s needed.

Amber lives in Woodend with her fiancé Paul and their baby boy, Fynn, who keeps them busy. They love getting out with their dog, Wednesday, whether it’s a beach walk or a wander through the forest, and enjoying the local Rockabilly Hops.

Meet our Team!

Simon joined the team in June 2024. A North Canterbury local, he is married to Annette and has two adult daughters. Simon enjoys playing Masters Football for Waimakiriri United Football Club and is also a keen musician. His musical journey began with the bagpipes, but he soon realised the saxophone was a much better choice! Piano and bass guitar have since been added; however, given the chance, Simon would always choose the saxophone.

Early in his working life, Simon aspired to become a Funeral Director, but life took a different direction and led him into pastoral care. When the opportunity arose at John Rhind North Canterbury, Simon was finally able to realise that long-held dream. He now brings together all his skills in service of the families and individuals we care for.

I am often asked about our online social accounts ect. This explains it very well.

Many families only discover the challenges of digital accounts after someone has died.

Locked phones.
Online subscriptions still charging.
Photos stored in cloud accounts no one can access.

Planning your digital legacy doesn’t take long, but it can make things much easier for the people you leave behind.

It’s one more way to leave peace of mind for your family.

An eco‑friendly farewell doesn’t mean compromising on care or dignity. It’s about intention, simplicity, and reflecting the values that mattered most to your loved one.

If this approach feels right for you and your whānau, our team is here to talk through the options and guide you.
