Another great Botanical Skincare workshop on Saturday. A wonderful group of women and lots of laughs. I love empowering women to make natural skincare products that are right for their skin. If you are interesting in coming to a Botanical Skincare workshop, I have another workshop coming up on 5 October. https://tuahiwibotanicals.co.nz/product/botanical-skincare-workshop/

More new workshops! I am continuing my theme of "garden to plate" workshops. These are hands on workshops where we intensively study 2 or 3 herbs in depth, from growing, harvesting and processing. You will leave with plants, freshly harvested (by you) herbs and some easy products that you will have made using the herbs. The whole point of these workshops is about giving you the confidence to grow and use herbs in a number of different ways. You can find out more about these workshops here https://tuahiwibotanicals.co.nz/workshops/

I have had a place open up in my Herbal Roots and Remedies Workshop on 20 July. This is a hands on workshop focusing on licorice root, valerian root and horse radish root. You will be digging up the roots, cleaning and processing then working with some dried roots to create some great herbal remedies.
You can find out more about this workshop here https://tuahiwibotanicals.co.nz/product/herbal-roots-&-remedies-workshop/

So, this is the workshop for everyone who has ever suggested I run a Pesto making workshop! Completely hands on workshop - identifying edible weeds and then making food with them - including lots of Pesto. And, the best thing about this workshop, is that I will end up getting a yummy lunch made for me! You can find out more here https://tuahiwibotanicals.co.nz/product/Eat-Your-Weeds-Workshop/

I have created a new workshop called Herbal Roots & Remedies. This is a hands on workshop where you will be digging up licorice root (and mud), valerian root and horse radish root. Once dug up, you will then clean and process the roots and then finally make some products with some already dried roots. This will be a deep dive into these plants (and hopefully not a deep dive into the mud). I will only be holding this workshop once this winter (as of course, once all the roots are harvested, then there will be no more until next year!). Also, it will be a small group (otherwise my garden will be completely trampled!) You can find out more information here https://tuahiwibotanicals.co.nz/product/herbal-roots-&-remedies-workshop/
Also, the photo is not of a plate of noodles but actually a plate of freshly harvested and cleaned valerian roots. Best not to get the two mixed up!

My Story

My name is Cathy Bouma and I founded Tuahiwi Botanicals because I am passionate about growing herbs and fragrant plants. I started growing my first herb garden as a teenager and many years later completed an apprenticeship in Herbal Medicine. My philosophy around using herbs is very simple. They must be local, fresh and organic. I absolutely believe that if you are using herbs for their medicinal benefits then you need to know how and where the plants were grown. I only use herbs that I grow myself in all my products and herbal teas.
