We’ve been having a blast with our Curious Minds crew lately — exploring how to use GitHub Copilot in VS Code to build something awesome from scratch! 😄

The kids have been learning about agent programming and how AI tools like Copilot can actually help you write code, fix bugs, and even suggest ideas as you go. Together, we've been working on a free educational app that helps people learn different subjects — and it's already taking shape!

😎 Over the past few weeks, we've been experimenting with different tools like Replit, Cursor, and now moving back into VS Code with GitHub Copilot to help build ideas and speed up learning.

It’s been awesome to watch these young minds test out what works best for them, whether they’re building games, solving problems, or just exploring new ways to create with code. They’re not just learning to program — they’re learning how to think like developers: trying, testing, adapting, and growing.

Some days have been a grind, but that's life. There's great times and then theres other times. These are the skills that will carry them far, no matter what path they take. 🤙

Our Curious Minds Computer Club has been hard at work — not just learning how computers work, but actually restoring and refurbishing real devices.

Shout out to the kids that are putting time and care into fixing up laptops so they can be given to other kids in our community who need them. It’s all about helping others stay connected, keep up with school, and feel part of the digital world.

We’re proud of what these young minds are doing. They’re learning valuable skills and making a real difference — one device at a time.

🔥 Busy weeks, big wins!

We’ve been diving deep into AI-driven development, using it to speed up the boilerplate code that usually eats up our time. Yesterday’s lesson: Building games with AI—turning ideas into reality and having a blast doing it! 🎮💡

Last week was all about setting up laptops for students who need devices for school. This week, we got back into the grind: 30 minutes of theory, 30 minutes of hands-on coding. 💻⚡
it has been a solid platform, but we maxed out our free credits 😅—so back to VS Code, & to keep us moving. 💪 Shoutout to our competition winners—25 minutes to build, 5 minutes to showcase. Solid 👏

Next up: Connecting to APIs with these young guns. 🚀

Another afternoon with some of our young from Kaitaia College and Te Kura Taumata o Panguru. Looking at app development with AI, Meta Quest, Replit, and Arkio ✌️ Moving onto something else to back up our VS Code Development from 2024.

Started with some theory and ramped up into development, pushing ideas and boundaries for development. Keep an eye on these young sparks.
