This morning we had the privilege of attending the Matariki Road Safety Remembrance Walk, thoughtfully organised by the Far North REAP Road Safety Team.

As we reflect during Matariki, it was a real honour to be part of the Hautapu and Hīkoi - a special time to remember and acknowledge those lost on our roads this past year. 🪽🤍

Kia ora koutou,

As many of you may already be aware, there has been ongoing speculation regarding the potential changes that Whangarei Mortuary and Coronial Services would not be renewing their contract that service Te Tai Tokerau Northland region.

We know firsthand the significant distress and hardship this would cause for whānau on all levels during an already difficult time. Over the past week, our Group Manager Gary Taylor and Chief Executive Gillian Boyes of the Funeral Directors Association of Aotearoa, New Zealand have taken the necessary time to gather accurate information before we could address these concerns publicly.

After communicating with all agencies involved, Andrew Howes General Manager of Te Whatu Ora Clinical Services Te Tai Tokerau, has reassured us that the speculation was incorrect and the facility will remain operational in Whangarei to service our region.

We hope this clarifies the situation and brings reassurance and peace of mind to all whānau, as it has for us.
