Winter is a time to slow down. Just as the whenua rests, so should we.
Rest is an essential element of our hauora. It nourishes every part of who we are:

🔹 Tinana (body): Rest gives our body the chance to heal, strengthen our immune system, and prevent illness. Without it, we burn out faster and become more vulnerable to sickness.

🔹 Hinengaro (mind): When we’re overloaded, our thoughts become cluttered and stress takes over. Rest gives our minds the space to reset, process, and find calm again.

🔹 Wairua (spirit): In te ao Māori, rest is a way to restore mauri (our life force energy). It reconnects us to our purpose, to each other, and to te taiao.

Rest can look like:
✨ Going to bed earlier
✨ Taking a moment to breathe deeply
✨ Saying no to things that drain you
✨ Sitting quietly with a warm cup of tea

Give yourself permission to slow down this Hōtoke/Winter e te whānau!
