This program WILL continue across the festive season as a way of maintaining support in this often ‘tricky’ time. 🏡💙 You will have here a warm homely place to land weekly for self time; for pause, for quiet, to soften and restore. Closed and confidential, weekly gatherings for Wāhine. A holistic program that integrates the development of self care techniques: mindful movement that strengthens, opens and decompresses the body, reducing inflammation, releasing tension and calming the nervous system, various breathing techniques and guided deep relaxation, all to foster healing and resilience. A space of support, to regularly connect with YOUR values and YOUR vision of well being. 10 weeks to spend regular time feeling at ease and deepening your relationship with yourself. Amazing things happen when we take time to pause, to 'meet' ourselves, just as we are, without judgement, knowing we are whole and complete, and to take the time to refresh, restore the brain and body. The movement is lead by Marie Baker, living in Moeerwa, Ngati Te Ara, Ngati Hine, Clan McLoed, Māmā of 1, who arrived to yoga as a way to ‘try anything!”… to navigate her healing 25 years ago. Marie found that the discovery of the breath and developing intimate focus during mindful movement & in meditation took her recovery to a place that she never got to just with talking therapy and medication alone. The ‘fog’ lifted and an heightened ability to understand and make sense of experience arose. Marie recalls the positive impact of having regular time to calm the nervous system and deeply rest and to essentially develop and practice skills to manage thoughts, feelings & behaviours. Marie says discovering the capacity to heal and grow and know her potential, and to thrive was massively notable. “I was able to navigate life feeling at ease, secure, grounded and safe within my self. Life became a blessing and an adventure playground”.
The 10 sessions offer a SAFE space for like minded support & confidentiality. A weekly ‘drop-in’ to spend time on SELF, to ground, restore, revitalize and grow.
Regular breathing & movement awakens the higher areas of the brain, offering an experience of calm and safety and strengthening this reference point for the brain. The higher centres of the brain get ‘turned on’ regularly, thereby increasing the capacity to understand and grasp helpful strategies.
Each session is 90 minutes but longer as you feel ready to join for shared kai and korero after the movement and rest time. Joining is a huge part of the magic here.. Safe and open discussion with like minded, compassionate wāhine, helps to solidify developing ‘understanding’ and one’s growing ability to challenge and overcome automatic beliefs. The result can be more positive feelings, which in turn lead to more positive thoughts and behaviours. All the latest neuroscience and health science is pointing to the many benefits found in yoga techniques within group dynamic, increasing success rates of personal recovery.
