We are very excited to announce the arrival of Vance Miller, Osteopath, to the team here at Back In Action. Vance is based in Whangerei but is making the pilgrimage up here every Tuesday to help those in need of treatment in the Far North.
When I did my training 25 years ago (Emma), my tutor and mentor was an Osteopath of 30 years experience who taught me some fundamental philosophies which I have used every day in practice since, so I am so excited to be able to refer clients to someone of this level of practice!
Here are some words from Vance to introduce himself….
“My first introduction to osteopathy was following a motor vehicle accident which left me with severe whiplash. In an attempt to alleviate my pain, I visited several manual practitioners of different modalities, and was most impressed with the approach and outcome of the Osteopathic care I received. Over time, I also gained relief from headaches, lower back pain and shoulder pain through osteopathy. Each treatment plan was very successful and allowed me to resume my daily activities with minimal delay.
I was so pleased and interested with the osteopathic care I had received that I proceeded to participate as a 'student for a day' on the osteopath course offered through Unitec. From then on, I was hooked, and ventured on to complete Unitec's 'Master of Osteopathy' degree in 2014.
Now, as a registered and practicing Osteopath, I enjoy treating a wide variety of patients with particular interest in osteoarthritis, breathing, physical performance and athletes. I do my utmost to maintain a holistic approach which involves assessing biomechanical structure and function, exploring contributing lifestyle factors, and learning about personal health beliefs related to the presenting complaint. The information gained can then be tied together into a treatment and management plan tailored to each individuals needs.
In my spare time I am likely to be outdoors or with family and friends, whom I value highly. Historically, I have been heavily involved in martial arts, both as a coach and competitor, as well as rugby, volleyball, and currently am an active freediving instructor. I also enjoy surfing and fishing which stems from my love of the ocean.
After a decade of practicing in both Auckland and Whangarei, I am excited to venture further north and establish roots in beautiful Kerikeri. Everyone is welcome and I look forward to meeting you.”
