Earlier today, alongside an amazing group of beautiful women I successfully completed my Yin Yoga Teacher Training with the fabulous Gabrielle Harris Yoga.

Stepping in on Day One my intention was to deepen my knowledge of Yin Yoga as a practice to help others improve flexibility and balance, while bringing a sense of calm and wellbeing into their bodies and lives.

After six cram-packed days, I absolutely achieved my goals; however, my biggest learning of all was actually discovering so much more about myself. Feeling very grateful for my newfound learnings and wisdom.. 🙏

Watch this space for more details about Yin Yoga and new offerings at Proactive Health soon..

10 years ago today I stepped in and taught my very first Nia Dance Class here in Kerikeri, at my clinic studio Proactive Health to a fabulous group of people willing to give Nia a go!!

Since that first class so many have continued dancing, attending belt trainings and even teaching, which has now become a fabulous Nia tribe here in the Bay of Islands and in the Doubtless Bay region.

Discovering the ‘Joy of Movement’ has been a huge blessing for me over this past decade and one that I still cherish today.

‘It’s simply about doing more of what makes you feel great!!’ The best movement or fitness regime is finding what brings you JOY!!

Hughest Gratitude to all who have been part of my Nia journey here at Proactive Health, Carien, Nia Kerikeri, Nia NZ & Australia, and the wider Nia Family around the world!!

With gratitude.. love, light and blessings, Di x

Back in 2010, I published my book Quantum Supplements, where I first explored the idea that nutrients are more than biochemistry. They also carry subtle energetics that interact with the body on many levels, including the chakra system. I’ve distilled that concept here into a simplified visual: a symbolic spectrum of vitamins.

Whether we view the body through molecules or meaning, both are valid languages. Science and spirituality are not opposites. They are mirrors of the same truth.

Here’s how each vitamin supports us physiologically:
Vitamin A – supports vision and immune integrity
Vitamin B1 – helps spark energy from carbohydrates
Vitamin B2 – drives redox reactions for cellular energy
Vitamin B3 – supports NAD+ formation and detox pathways
Vitamin B5 – helps build CoA for stress and hormone response
Vitamin B6 – assists in neurotransmitter and hemoglobin production
Vitamin B7 – supports healthy skin, hair, nails, and metabolism
Vitamin B9 – essential for DNA synthesis and methylation
Vitamin B12 – nourishes blood, nerves, and methylation cycles
Vitamin C – helps form collagen and defend against oxidative stress
Vitamin D – supports calcium balance, immune health, and circadian rhythm
Vitamin E – helps maintain cell membrane integrity
Vitamin K – directs calcium to bones and away from arteries

We often talk about nutrient deficiencies in the physical sense, but have we considered the energetic deficiency of a nutrient as well?

If a vitamin supports vision, repair, resilience, clarity, flow, or protection in the body… where might that also be needed in our inner life?

Sunshine on a Cloudy Day

Gratitude is like the sunshine on a cloudy day.
It changes everything.

Even when life feels dim and heavy,
gratitude finds a way to break through.
It does not erase the clouds,
but softens them,
casting light where there was only gray.

A simple thank-you,
a quiet breath of awareness,
can shift the whole day.
The morning feels more welcoming,
our thoughts grow a little lighter
and our tired eyes
find beauty once again.

Gratitude reminds us,
light still lives beneath the storm,
always ready to shine.
When we choose to see through that light,
the world brightens,
not because it has changed,
but because we have.

Blueberries do more than add color to your plate. Their natural compounds and metabolites help support your liver’s antioxidant systems, especially after eating foods cooked at high temperatures. A handful a day can be a delicious way to nourish cellular resilience.

Very wise words..

There Is Wisdom in Pausing

There comes a point
when the world feels too heavy,
the headlines,
the scrolling,
the quiet ache of trying to keep up
with a world that never stops.

We carry it all
without noticing the weight,
the stories,
the sorrows,
the constant pulse of urgency.
But the body knows
when the heart is full.
It begins to ache for stillness.

Switching off is not indifference.
It is an act of care.
A soft refusal
to be endlessly available
to the steady hum of the world.

It is the slow exhale
after too many held breaths,
the gentle turning inward
to the steadiness of our own pulse.

We are not made to hold it all.
We need to rest.
There is wisdom in pausing,
in letting the world go on for a while
without us.

And in that quiet,
when the light softens,
when the breath deepens,
when the hands finally unclench,
something tender returns.

A remembering.
A small, steady peace.
The knowing
that we are still here,
and that this,
for now,
is enough.

Hormonal changes in menopause, particularly the decline in oestrogen and progesterone, along with an increase in cortisol, affect so much more than periods.

These shifts can:

🌸Disrupt sleep
🌸Increase hot flushes
🌸Alter cortisol (our stress hormone) rhythms
🌸Impact how your body regulates blood sugar
🌸Increase inflammatoon and fat%

Together, they can leave you feeling fatigued, foggy, and out of balance.

The nutrients you eat provide the raw materials your body needs to:

💕Stabilise hormones
💕Support brain chemistry
💕Improve energy regulation

As a certified Metabolic Balance practitioner I can support tou through your hormonal journey with personalised nutrition and if needed specific herbs and nutrients to help you feel like you again 🤗

My favourite kind of ‘Farmacy!!’

If we had more of these, with more education on what food is healthy - and how to eat healthy foods, we would not have the huge wait times at our Drs rooms and hospitals, freeing up appointment times and beds for those who really need them.

Food absolutely matters. Whole Foods are the BEST medicine!!! Mother Nature is so clever she actually puts the medicine inside our FOOD!!
