Don't have time to read Osteoporosis New Zealand's whole report? Here are the key facts:
-Over 22,000 fragility fractures occur annually among Kiwis aged 50+, costing $360M and using 300,000 hospital bed days—equal to a 525-bed hospital running year-round.
-Without action, this will double by 2035.
-The roadmap sets 7 national objectives: improve hip fracture care, expand Fracture Liaison Services, promote prevention across all ages, enhance maternal/youth nutrition, embed research, educate the public (Know Your Bones™), and address inequities.
-Goal: Reduce fractures by 30–40% and falls by up to 30% through a life-course approach and collaborative action.
