The Path That Knows the Hooves
The elders say
every soul is given a companion—
not to lead,
but to remind the heart how to endure.
I learned that strength is quiet loyalty,
the kind that carries grief
without letting it break the song of living.
It moves forward
even when memory pulls hard at the chest.
Some bonds are older than language.
They speak through trust,
through the promise to return
even when the road is long and unforgiving.
What carries us across distances
also teaches us when to slow,
when to listen for the ground beneath our breath,
when to honor the pace of the spirit.
So I follow the path that already knows me,
guided not by force,
but by respect—
a shared understanding
that walking together
is its own kind of prayer.
