It has been a huge few weeks for the team with a number of big calls!! πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

Structure, car and vegetation fires - the operational crew have all had the opportunity to get on the hose and gain valuable experience with bigger scale call-outs! Getting to work with crews from different brigades to collaborate on these jobs always provides great learning opportunities.

We would like to thank the families and employers of our responders. We know it can put pressure on others when we run out the door and we thank you for the support! πŸ’›

Appreciation post πŸ™Œ
Our employer and sponsor board is looking very healthy, and we couldn’t be more grateful. A huge thank you to our employers for supporting us in giving back to our community and local region, and to all the businesses that back what we do. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more about these incredible businesses, so stay tuned.

RESTRICTED FIRE SEASON πŸ”₯

Fire and Emergency New Zealand is moving Bay of Plenty to a restricted fire season at 5pm on Tuesday 13 January, until further notice.

A restricted fire season means a permit is required to light an open-air fire.

Announcing the fire season change, Community Risk Manager Luke Burgess says the recent warm and dry weather means the fire risk across the region has increased.

"In these conditions fire will travel fast and will be difficult for our crews to extinguish.

"Having a restricted fire season gives us greater control of who can burn and when, and we can provide direct fire safety advice to those completing burns."

The public can apply for a permit at www.checkitsalright.nz
Luke Burgess says that although some isolated rain is forecast, it will be predominantly dry, hot and windy which increases the fire danger.

"We are asking the public to take extra care during these conditions."

HAPPY NEW YEAR! πŸ’₯

The year has had a very busy start with lots of calls of a huge variety for the team! And all times of the day and night πŸ”₯ πŸš™ 🌲

Some of you may have spotted us out there training this afternoon and carrying out our weekly truck checks!!

Today’s aim was to help one of our recruits complete his final training before heading off on his week long course to become a firefighter! We ran through ladders before completing a search and rescue scenario. πŸ”¦ πŸ”₯

Bring on a great 2026! Never a dull moment on station 🚨

We recently held our Honours Evening at the Kinloch Club to celebrate our hardworking brigade members! πŸ†

We were able to award our brigade trophies and UFBA Service Awards. It was a great night to get together with the families of all our firefighters to recognise the hard work that goes into keeping the station running. ❀️

Thankyou to Mayor John Funnell for attending and the Kinloch Club for hosting us.

We look forward to another great honours night next year. πŸš’

What an amazing turnout by the community last night πŸ˜πŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸš’πŸŽ…πŸΌ

Everything from cans and chocolate to Christmas crackers, napkins and even colouring in packs! Our community is amazingly generous and we can’t thank you enough! We think this is our biggest collection yet!

This is our 3rd year doing the food drive for Taupo Food Bank and we hope to keep on this awesome tradition ❀️

There is still a box outside of the station until lunchtime today so if anyone has a last minute donation it would be gratefully accepted.
