Animal Caretaker (Part-Time) - Join Our Caring Community!
Location: Kumeu, Auckland
Employment Type: Part-Time (Starting with 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Once the role is established and you're comfortable with the animals and their integration into our animal therapy program with residents, the hours will increase to 5 hours per day.)

The Role:
We are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Animal Caretaker to join our close-knit team. In this part-time role, you’ll be responsible for the daily care of our beloved animals at both Kumeu Village Rest Home and The Ladybug. You’ll ensure they are healthy, well-fed, and living in clean and safe environments, while also playing a key role in maintaining the warm and welcoming atmosphere we are known for.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide daily care to a variety of animals, including rabbits, dogs, cats, goat and horses.
• Ensure animals are fed and have access to fresh water.
• Maintain clean and safe living environments for the animals.
• Monitor the health and behaviour of the animals, reporting any concerns as needed.
• Administer basic grooming and hygiene care.
• Coordinate with veterinary professionals for any necessary medical care.
• Maintain accurate records of animal care activities.
• Ensure the availability of necessary supplies.
• Potentially facilitate pet therapy sessions with residents, bringing joy and comfort through interaction with the animals.
What You’ll Need:
• Proven experience in animal care, preferably with rabbits and small mammals.
• A passion for animal welfare and strong attention to detail.
• The ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Good communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanour.
• A reliable vehicle to travel between Kumeu Village Rest Home and The Ladybug.
• Physical ability to handle the demands of the role, including lifting and cleaning.
