Being a local team, we get access to some pretty special places. Recently, Chris and his Mountain Experience Course did exactly that. With special permission, we were able to lead some budding mountaineers up to and on top of Mount Dun Fiunary, and a beautiful wander down Whale Stream. Check out our MEC dates for next summer, starting October 19 for some special spots to learn some special skills.

Last week, our Guide Jamie took a few avid hikers and took it up a notch. Our Mountain Skills Course opened up a new world of snow, ice, rock and ropes for our team of trampers. After our three-day course, they're all now skilled up to head higher into the alpine environment. Great stuff, guys!

A week ago the unthinkable happened when Wankak-based IFMGA guide Thomas Vialletet and his client were lost in a tragic accident on Aoraki Mount Cook.

Thomas, a loving dad and husband, was an integral part of the Wānaka and New Zealand guiding whānau. A highly respected IFMGA Mountain Guide and dedicated owner of a local guiding company, he embodied the professionalism, humility, and passion that define our community.

In support of his family during this incredibly difficult time, a Give-a-little page has been set up to help relieve his family's immediate and long term financial pressures. If you are in a position to contribute or share, your support will mean so much to the mountain community.
