Get in touch as soon as you find out you are pregnant as babies conceived in March/April will be due in December/January! I will take time off during this time so will not take on a lot of clients.

School holidays means evening visits. Many of us midwives stay home with our kids during the day and when our partners come home from work and can take over, we go out and see our newborn babies and moms.

I do enjoy this s time of the year. I almost always find a beautiful shot!

In NZ we LMCs have the option of asking clients to fill in an online form to give us feedback on the care they received from us. It's a tick box exercise and I personally don't think it's very helpful to me.

When feedback comes in this format, telling me in which aspect of the care I could make the biggest difference for the family, it is just beautiful!

Exploring on the job again. Listening to the waves clears your mind, even if it's just for a few minutes 🙂
This midwife, is going off work for a wee while to look after her health. Wonderful Karien Orton will be covering in the meantime. I will be back in a couple of weeks 👋

Doing some research on product information today. My clients are coming in with questions about products on the market and I need to stay informed.

I don't advise in general to get a breasts pump during my antenatal appointments as I thinks that's a huge expense and undermines the trust in women's abilities to be able to breastfeed. But I do want to come prepared if she encounters bumps along her BF journey so today I invested in a breast pump. I am sure it will come in handy! Last year I go the UV sterilizer so this should make work of anew mom easier.

What a wonderful gift, from your land and whanau to mine ❤️

I don't ever expect parting gifts when I discharge a family from my care.
However, being German, practical gifts resonate so well with me when they do come. I still remember the trailer load of wood I received a couple of years back, kept us warm all winter.
