Today, I’d like to delve into the captivating world of the Desert Rose crystal, a remarkable gemstone that embodies the harmonious blend of nature’s gifts. These crystals are natural rosette formations composed of gypsum or baryte, sand, and water, meticulously formed over thousands of years through the process of evaporation in arid conditions. Often referred to as “sand roses,” these delicate, flower-like crystals are predominantly found in the Sahara Desert (Tunisia and Algeria), Oklahoma, USA, Mexico, and Qatar.

Hello, beautiful souls! Today marks our last day of March, and the weather is absolutely beautiful and calm. The clear blue sky reminded me of our lovely Blue Apatite, which I thought we should explore today. Blue Apatite is a phosphate mineral that comes in various colors. It was officially identified and named in the late 18th century (1786) by German geologist Abraham Gottlob Werner. Interestingly, its name comes from the Greek word “apatao,” meaning “to deceive,” because it was often mistaken for other gems like beryl and topaz. The name also has a connection to Apate, the Greek goddess of deceit, who was one of the spirits released from Pandora’s box. So, how can we incorporate this beautiful gem into our lives today?

Hello Beautiful Souls, welcome to Friday! With March on its way out the door, April is just around the corner – so today I thought we would look at a wonderful crystal called Amazonite.

Amazonite, a vibrant green-blue microcline feldspar, has been treasured for over 10,000 years, with its history spanning from Stone Age jewelry to prominent use in ancient Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilizations. Known as the "Stone of Courage" and "Stone of Hope," it was used in King Tutankhamun's treasures, Sumerian seals, and is believed to have been named in 1847 by August Breithaupt. Ancient Egyptians highly revered amazonite and it was carved into amulets, beads, and jewelry. It was often placed in tombs and was used to craft tablet chapters for the Book of the Dead. A famous scarab ring found in King Tutankhamun’s tomb is made of amazonite.

It’s beautiful green-blue hue is mesmerizing, so how do we use this beautiful crystal today?

Amazonite is known as the ‘Stone of Truth’ and deeply stimulates the throat chakra. Hello, beautiful souls! What a gorgeous day to begin our week! This morning, as I entered my office to think about today’s writing topic, I was captivated by a mesmerizing flash from the little Labradorite that sits on my desk. It seemed to be whispering, “Pick me, show them my beautiful flash.” So, today, let’s embark on a journey to explore the wonders of Labradorite.

Labradorite is a striking iridescent feldspar mineral first discovered in the 1770s on the Isle of Paul near Labrador, Canada, by Moravian missionaries. Known for "labradorescence" (a vibrant play of color), it was historically linked to Inuit folklore, which believed the stone held frozen fire from the Northern Lights. Norse stories similarly connected the stone's, shimmering, iridescent nature to the Bifrost Bridge (the rainbow bridge connecting Earth with Asgard), believing the bridge was made from labradorite. So how do we use this magical stone today?

Labradorite: Awakening – Intuition - Protection
Labradorite is known as the ‘Bringer of Light’ and is a highly mystical and protective crystal. It raises one’s consciousness and connects them to universal energies. Labradorite forms a protective barrier, deflecting negativity and unwanted energies from both the aura and home. Hello Beautiful Souls, welcome to the weekend! Sometimes the week can really take it out of you, leaving you feeling foggy or drained. Today we are going to look at a crystal that super-charges your mind and re-energise your body and intentions, Quartz! This beautiful crystal works so hard for us in so many ways.

Quartz has been used for over 9,000 years, with evidence of its use in tools, jewelry, and talismans dating back to 7000 BCE in Mesopotamia. Ancient Greeks and Romans believed clear quartz was permanently frozen water, with Greek philosophers calling it krustallos (the origin of "crystal"). Throughout the Middle Ages, mystics and healers used quartz in potions and charms, believing it could ward off evil. So how do we use it today?

Clear or White Quartz: Balance – Clarity - Healing
Clear or White Quartz is known as the ‘Master Healer’. It is a powerful crystal that can be programmed to address and manifest any intention, whether it be physical, emotional, or spiritual. Hello, beautiful souls! The weather outside is looking lovely and calm. Many of you have seen the video of me playing crystal bowls to clear and move negative energy around them, infusing the shop with the wonderfully energizing energy you all feel when you come in.

The earliest metal bowls date back 5,000 years to Mesopotamia. Bronze and brass technologies were used to create sound-producing vessels in the Himalayan region for thousands of years. Locally known as dabaka or bata in Nepal, these bowls were initially utilitarian kitchen vessels. Their use spread across Tibet, India, and China for domestic, musical, and spiritual purposes. By the 8th century, they became integral to Tibetan Buddhist meditation and chanting, believed to balance chakras, clear negative energy, and facilitate deep meditation.
