As of 1 October 2025, Te Awakairangi Health Network has joined Tū Ora Compass Health and is now part of the largest PHO in the Wellington region.

You can reach the new Hutt Valley Tū Ora office at the same phone number (04 566 5320) and address (Level 4, 330 High Street, Lower Hutt).

As part of the Tū Ora whānau, we are looking forward to continuing to serve people living in the Hutt Valley and working collaboratively with the wider primary care sector.

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month. The theme this year is “Let’s Talk Endo” with the goal of empowering early diagnosis of the condition and improving access to care.

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining inside your womb (uterus) starts to grow in other parts of your body. The condition affects around 1 in 10 women and for many, it can be severely painful.

It can be difficult to diagnose endometriosis because of its similarity to other conditions like irritable bowel syndrome. However, early diagnosis is critical in managing the condition.

In 2020, the Ministry of Health published information to support healthcare professionals in recognising and managing endometriosis symptoms. These were developed by a taskforce of representatives from health professional regulatory bodies, advocacy groups, and those who live with endometriosis.

The aim is to improve the diagnosis and management of endometriosis by helping health professionals to recognise and manage symptoms early, have well-informed conversations with their patients, and consider the role of medical, surgical and allied health management options.

We are sad to announce that after 30 Years at Avalon Medical Centre, we are saying Goodbye to our Wonderful Receptionist Pam. Pam is relocating to be closer to Family and friends and will be greatly missed by Staff and Patients. Her last day will be this Friday 16 August and we'll all be crying as she walks out the Door. 😭
