Quality Controller Position - 2025 Harvest Season

Wratten Orchards Limited is an owner/operated apple orchard located in the Tasman Region, which grows and packs quality apples for international markets. Wratten Orchards is a family oriented, multi-generation, kiwi-owned company that has been supplying apples to market for over 60 years.

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team for the upcoming Apple Season.

We're seeking an experienced Quality Controller to be a key player in our 2025 Harvest season. This role is full-time and fixed-term but could lead to a permanent position for the right candidate. Kicking off in February 2025 and wrapping up when the harvest concludes in June. If you have a strong background in pip-fruit quality management and enjoy working collaboratively, we'd like to connect with you.

What We Value:
• Demonstrated expertise in Phytosanitary Procedures and pest identification
• Solid experience with sampling and inspection techniques
• In-depth understanding of Exporter requirements and grading standards
• Familiarity with GFSI, Global Gap, and HACCP protocols within a packhouse environment
• Knowledge of OAPs for China & Taiwan
• Insight into MPI MAO standards for exports
• A systematic and organized approach to work
• Clear and effective verbal and written communication abilities

Tech Savvy: Comfortable handling data entry, navigating quality management software, and using basic office applications.

Working Hours: Standard hours are 7:30 AM to 5.00 PM, Monday to Friday, with Saturday hours from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

Eligibility: Applicants must provide photo ID and proof of eligibility to work in New Zealand as well as currently residing in New Zealand. We will not be accepting any overseas applications.

As the apple blossoms start to bloom this spring, it brings a bittersweet reminder of new beginnings and the loss of one of our team members. It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Sue Pickett ‘Nana Sue’ to many, who was a cherished member of our team and spent many years working in our Apple and Boysenberry Packhouses. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever be a part of Wratten Orchards. Rest in peace, Sue.

APPLE PACKHOUSE CLEANING POSITIONS - 2024

We are looking for motivated individuals to join our cleaning team for the upcoming Apple Season 2024

This role would be perfect for a High School student looking for a little extra cash.

The season runs from late February to mid-June.
Hours - Mon-Fri 5.00pm-7.00pm / Sat 3.00pm-5.00pm

You will be rostered on 2/3 times a week, this then gives you a chance to study and do other activities.

All applicants should have NZ residency or a current work visa and have a positive work ethic. Applicants who are currently residing in New Zealand will only be considered for these roles.

Getting closer... Still needing Night-shift Harvest Graders

It's a great way to earn over a short period of time and then enjoy the rest of your summer.

The berry harvest commences around 17th Dec and runs for around 3-4 weeks. Starting at 9pm with 6-8am finish depending on fruit availability. We run for 7 days per week, with rostered days off on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Pay is $21.20 /hour + holiday pay, time and quarter over 8 hours worked, with paid public holidays and paid time-and-a-half on any public holidays worked.

Current working visa required and you must already be residing in New Zealand.

Location: Lower Moutere, Nelson.
