Any of my Yoga teacher or Movement professional friends who are interested... I took this course last year as part of my larger 300 hour training, I thought as a yoga teacher I knew everything there was to know about the breath, but I was so wrong. This course has been a huge revelation in how I teach and practice myself.
If you want to get into teaching any Pranayama or breathwork then this course is an absolute must to work safely with your clients.
I would also recommend this course for anyone working in the area of mental health.

This master course for yoga teachers, yoga practitioners, and health professionals is a complete programme in the theory, science, and practice of breathing.

Breathing plays a central role in our health, helping to maintain homeostasis within the body's systems, and promoting greater mental and emotional calm and ease. As yoga teachers, we are in a perfect position to help our students breathe more effectively and access optimal health through breathing.

This course is a core component of the Svastha Yoga Therapy programme and can also be taken as a stand alone module for continuing education.

When Cyclone Gabrielle has absolutely hammered the country, posting on Instagram seems a bit silly...
But if it's in anyway useful i thought i would share how I deal.

1. Let myself feel and grieve and cry
2. When I notice that I am shifting into flight or fight i need to pull myself back- I am not useful to anyone in this state.
3. Being aware of what media I am consuming and limiting myself
4. When i am in a better state of mind i am able to make decisions about how I can help from my small corner.

We are all individuals and we react to things in different ways. Sharing my response might not be useful for you, but at the very least maybe it brings you some awareness about your feelings and responses.

Don't forget to find time to rest!

We love summer!
Hiking, biking, getting out on the lake. Its so nice to be active at this time of year. But we should also leave time to rest...

💚Rest allows us to unwind our nervous system... Getting up on your water skis for the first time is awesome, but i bet it left ypur heart racing and your muscles tense. This is good stress, our bodies need this, but we must also be able to come out of this stress.

💚Rest allows our bodies to heal... Biking the dunstan trail is such an awesome effort and we need to push our physical limit, but if you don't let your body recover you may feel sorer and more tired for longer as your body struggles to recover

💚Rest allows us time to just be with ourselves checking in with how our bodies feel, what emotions we are feeling, how our breath is enables us to be resilient and emotionally intelligent.

I have a lot to say about our breath.

You might want to pause grab a cup of tea, probably a biscuit as well to read this one.

But essentially what I want to say is we can't all breathe in deeply, we can't all hold after an inhale and we can't all take a big exhale.
