It's the time of year when your dogs paws will burn if the pavement/sand/ground is too hot.

Bring them to the Dog Playground instead - a fully fenced, grassy safe space with shade for both them and yourself - where your dogs are free to run around off lead at any time.

We’ve been hearing stories of dog owners getting fined for having dogs off lead after 10am and before 5pm in some areas.
For those who are not able to walk their dogs off-leash within the permitted hours, we have decided to make the playground available for $5 per household per session between the hours of 10am and 5pm each day until the end of School holidays.
The playground is a fully fenced area, with agility equipment available if you want to make use of it. There are plenty of shady areas both for your fur babies and yourselves.
Bookings are essential and can be made via the Contact Us button on our page.
We look forward to seeing you soon 🐾

About a month ago, we received a very unpleasant 1* review on our Google page. We chose to respond and then let it go.

Unfortunately, we have received another 1* review today from a person who has never visited the park and appears to be trying to give our business a bad name. I have included the content of the review below.

We are asking those of you who have visited the Park, and have the time to do so, to please leave a review on our Google page in the hope that the positive reviews will outnumber these fictitious negative ones.

To access our Google page, please search for K9 Konceptz Mangawhai and you will see an option to leave a review.

Thank you in anticipation

Unsafe Environment for Dogs – Avoid This Park

I had a deeply upsetting experience at this dog park. I took my dog here expecting a safe, friendly environment, but unfortunately, it turned into a nightmare.

While we were there, my dog was kicked by the park's owner, Sharan, without any valid reason. This was not only cruel but extremely dangerous. As a result of the incident, I had to take my dog to the vet for treatment. No one should have to go through this, and no animal deserves that kind of abuse.

This place is not safe, and I strongly urge other dog owners to think twice before visiting. A dog park should be a welcoming place where our pets can socialize and play — not a place where they risk being harmed by the very person who’s supposed to manage it.

I’m sharing this to raise awareness and protect other animals from potential harm.

Part two:
A few people have asked why dogs need to come to an Adventure playground/park, so we thought we would do some posts with explanations.

TRAINING - We cannot stress the importance of this enough.

Below are examples from some of the dogs we have coming here, but the reasons that dogs need to be trained are pretty much endless.

Puppies - that cute little puppy needs a LOT of time and work put into it before it will behave how you want it to. They are babies, and like all babies, need to be taught everything. It is essential for puppies to be socialised with other dogs and with people - but they are easily distracted, so also need a quiet space where you can work with them without 1,001 distractions. The park is the perfect space to work one on one in a space, fully fenced area.

Recall - we have a few dogs who simply don't come back when they are let off lead in a public place. Seeing your dog disappearing into the distance is not a relaxing experience for anybody. The park is fully fenced and the perfect place to teach your dog that coming back to you is more rewarding than whatever it is they are running to.

Confidence - some of our visitors have had bad experiences in public places, e.g. attacked by another dog. By bringing them to our safe space, either alone or with their doggie friends, you can work on restoring (or at least improving) their confidence that not everywhere is a threat.

Agility - we have agility equipment at the park which can be used either solely for that purpose or as part of other training, e.g. confidence building. We have attached an explanation of what the equipment does.

NOTE; We are not dog trainers, but there are a few in the area that you can contact- some of them use the park as part of the training they offer.

How it works:
For $15, you get 30 minutes private use for you and your dog. Additional dogs are an extra $5 each. Group bookings are welcome, as long as the dogs know each other. Longer bookings can be arranged.
All dogs must be fully vaccinated and you will need to provide proof on or before your first visit. You will also need to sign a waiver form.

A few people have asked why dogs need to come to an Adventure playground/park, so we thought we would do some posts with explanations.

Probably the most obvious are reactive dogs. This is either to other dogs, or humans, or both.

Our property is perfect for them, because it is fully fenced and - because the booking is exclusively for you - there is very little possibility of coming into contact with another dog while you are here. (This is why we have a 15 minute gap between bookings, so the chances of an overlap are minimised).

A few of the reasons that a dog might be reactive are:

Bad experiences with other dogs. We’ve had a few come here who have been attacked in a public place.

Problems with socialisation. Some of the dogs who come here are ‘lockdown’ dogs, who went to live with their owners just before lockdown happened so they couldn’t go to places where they could meet up with other dogs, e,g. the beach.

Negative experiences with humans - some have been rescued from an abusive situation.

Trauma in their background. A prime example of this is our boy Sam (in the photos), who we lost to brain cancer three years ago at the age of 12. We got him when he was about 18 months old and have since been led to believe he was bait in a dog fighting ring. His default whenever he saw another dog was to be defensive. Taking him for a walk, even on lead and wearing a muzzle was not a relaxing experience so we were fortunate to have our 2.5 acres he could run around in.

The weather forecast for this week is a very mixed bag, with a lot of rain heading our way.

If you need to get the dog(s) out for some exercise but don't want to get soaked in the process, book into the Park.

Our new container needs work to get it looking how we want, but it is water tight, with a couple of seats for you while your dog(s) burn off some of their excess energy in our fully fenced space.

How it works:
For $15, you get 30 minutes private use of the Park for you and your dog. Additional dogs are an extra $5 each. Group bookings are welcome, as long as the dogs know each other. Longer bookings can be arranged.

All dogs must be fully vaccinated and you will need to bring their vaccination card on your first visit. You will also need to sign a waiver form.

We are open between 9.00am and 7.00pm, seven days a week.
Bookings are essential and can be made by clicking on the Contact Us button on our page, send a message to K9 Konceptz via Facebook, text 021 213 2673 or via this link - https://calendly.com/myang2002/sensorygardenexploration

Happy Easter everybody.

We are open this weekend.

We have taken delivery of a 20 foot container, which will gradually be upgraded, but it can still be used to shelter from the rain while your dog(s) burn off some excess energy.
