Some inspiration to kick off a new week....
Congratulations Adrian Hughes, this post is all about you!
How did you discover Fit365 and why did you decide to give it a go?
Honestly I just found it by accident. Moving to Mangawhai I wanted a change and was looking for a new fitness journey. I canât remember how I came across Fit365 but I hit up Aaron and just started coming in, simple as that really.
What were you doing sport/exercise wise before Fit365?
Iâve never really been a gym person, I was going to F45 in Auckland but mainly did sports - soccer, tennis, golf, road and trail running. Iâve always loved the outdoors.
What is your favourite exercise?
Anything that involves lifting a barbell, Fit 365 has opened up a new world to me with the barbell â sn**ch, cleans, deadlifts, squats etc were all new to me and Iâve thoroughly enjoyed the journey of learning to lift. Any barbell day is a good day now!
And most hated exercise?
Burpees! I like to blame that being tall makes them harder, but they are probably just hard and/or Iâm lazy.
What changes in your health and performance have you observed since starting Fit365?
Iâm definitely stronger and have more muscle. But really the best result is just feeling well, being fit, healthy and having energy and enthusiasm for each day. That is the best outcome I could ask for.
What is one word that people use to describe you?
Depends who you ask, Iâm pretty committed and focussed when something is important to me, but I can also be cheeky and casual when Iâm just cruising
What advice would you give to someone with regard to starting strength and conditioning training with Fit365?
Unless you want to be old and feeble, unable to tie your shoes or play with your grandkids, you should probably do some lifting now. Honestly though, just try it, keep turning up and have some fun.
Something nobody knows about you or would be surprised to know about you?
Most people donât know that Iâve been vegetarian my whole life. I like to say I was vegetarian before it became cool. Apparently this makes me chronically protein deficient, but somehow Iâm still alive and feeling good.
Favourite activity outside of Fit365?
Playing with my son at MAZ park or at the beach, and I love getting out into nature or doing some physical work around the house
Where is your favourite place to eat in Mangawhai?
Bennettâs creamy mushrooms is my go to cheat meal. Brewed As for the coffee. Te Arai links for the occasional parents date meal
What type of music gets you pumped up for a workout?
Jo has a pretty wild soundtrack, always something upbeat to fire us up.
Proudest accomplishment at Fit365?
Surviving the âMurphâ challenge was a significant challenge and I enjoyed training for it. I enjoy new things and Fit 365 always has something interesting to focus on and practice
What are your fitness and or health goals for the remainder of 2024?
Consistency is key, just keep showing up and challenging myself in each class.
Which other Fit365 member(s) inspires you the most?
Only the toughest of men go to the 9.30am class! Jonas, Andrew, Rob etc push me to go the extra mile. Stefan is an honorary but absent member of the 9.30 Hardcore crew.
Thank you to you both Aaron and Jo for creating a supportive and fun environment to workout. Your contribution to peopleâs health and wellness and your personal and hands on approach is appreciated and is clearly effective as proven by having such a dedicated following. Hereâs to many years of being healthy, humble and human.
Adrian, youâre the epitome of turn up, get it done with a smile and repeatâŚ.then watch the magic happen!
Youâve been patient with yourself and your abilities and over the last few months its been cool to see you push the boat out a little more. Thereâs not too many holes in your overall skill and strength level, so now the gains will just keep coming.
Adrian, you are very kind and your energy and encouragement in class goes a long way to helping others enjoy and achieve alongside you.
Hereâs to the rest of 2024!
