Welcome to Mangawhai Physiotherapy located at 4a Wood Street, Mangawhai Heads, Phone 09 431 4476. We are opening a second clinic at 5 Insley Street, Mangawhai Village in March 2017. This will allow us to offer Pilates classes as well as hip/ knee rehab classes. We are here to assess and treat your sports, spinal,work related, acute and chronic injuries. At Mangawhai Physiotherapy we are also able to assist you with the management of chronic arthritic conditions, women's health conditions, ante and post natal concerns, hyperventilation syndrome and degenerative problems. Services include a through assessment, injury management advice, massage, mobilisation, acupuncture, exercise prescription and rehabilitation programmes. You do not need a doctors referral to attend physiotherapy and we are able to register your ACC claims directly.

Skier’s Thumb

Skier’s thumb is an injury to the Ulna Collateral Ligament of the thumb, often caused by a fall onto an outstretched hand (not always from skiing!)

If not treated properly this injury can cause instability of the thumb and affect pinch strength and cause ongoing pain.

Our Hand Therapist can assess and effectively treat these injuries. We commonly will fabricate a custom-made splint which protects the injured joint and ligament.

We can also refer for any Xray or Ultrasound scan if required and onward referral to an
Orthopaedic Hand Surgeon if the ligament injury is severe.

We are very excited to have Amanda join our physio team this week. Amanda specialises in hand therapy and is able to treat and make custom splints for fingers, hands, wrists and elbows. Amanda is available 9.30am-2.30pm Tuesday and Fridays. If you would like to be booked in to see her please contact reception on (09) 431 4476

Unfortunately, due to Mangawhai being in level 3 under the new Auckland border restrictions we will be closed until Thursday 18th at this stage. We are offering no surcharge telehealth consultations during this time, please ring and leave a message at reception if you would like a physio to call you. If you already have an apt made this week we will be in contact with you to discuss options over the next few days.

Lower limb class starts again next week! Tuesday 10:30-11:30am. This class is beneficial for anyone that feels they need strengthening in their lower limbs. Great for patients that are recovering from hip or knee surgeries, osteoporosis, arthritis and those that just want some strengthening. These classes are run by a qualified physiotherapist who can cater exercises to your needs. Please ring up to book your spot (09) 431 4476. We have causal rates and concession rates available.

From Thursday morning Mangawhai Physio will be able to see patients face to face. We have measures in place to ensure the safety of both you and the therapist. We will still be offering telehealth consultations throughout this level as well.

The NZ Blood Service is returning to Mangawhai Village on Tuesday 5th May. This will be at the Mangawhai Library Hall (45 Moir Street, Mangawhai). You will need to make an apt if you wish to donate. You can do this by ringing 0800 448 325

Been bored during lockdown? Overdone it to quickly -twisted your knee or pulled your calf? We can help! Mangawhai Physio can give you advice and prescribe you exercises to get you back out there via telehealth consultations. Don’t leave your rehab until after lockdown, start now to improve your recovery.

If you would like a consultation, please ring the Mangawhai clinic on (09) 431-4476 and leave a message and we will be in contact with you.

We can provide telehealth consultations via phone or video calls during this lockdown period and register ACC claims for you. This will be a complimentary service for new and existing patients under ACC.
