Have you or someone you love been through State Care?

Important notice for Whaiora patients regarding Manage My Health

Tēnā koutou katoa, We are writing to inform our whānau about a recent cyber security incident involving Manage My Health (MMH), an external patient portal service used by some of our patients.

It is important to be very clear:
This cyber attack was not on Whaiora and did not involve our patient management system, clinical systems, prescriptions, appointments, or secure messaging.

The breach occurred within Manage My Health’s own platform, not Whaiora.

What information was involved?
The incident related only to documents stored in the “My Health Documents” section of Manage My Health. These include:
• Documents patients uploaded themselves
• Hospital discharge summaries from Northland Hospital
• Specialist referral letters from GPs to specialists (2017–2019)

No GP or hospital clinical systems were affected, and no financial or banking information was involved.

Is it safe to use Manage My Health now?
Yes. Manage My Health and Tu Ora has confirmed the system is now secure. The affected feature has been closed, and additional safeguards and monitoring are in place to protect patient information.

What should patients do now?
• Manage My Health are currently contacting any affected patients directly themselves
• You do not need to contact Whaiora as only MMH can provide you with individual patient information that has been compromised
• You may choose to change your MMH password as a precaution and add a two factor authentication
• You can delete documents stored in your “My Health Documents” folder
• You may close your MMH account at any time. If closed, your data will be deleted from this platform in line with MMH processes
Support for affected patients

Manage My Health is contacting affected patients directly and will provide access to a dedicated 0800 support line for further information and tautoko.

Please note:
• This 0800 number is only available to affected patients
• Whaiora does not have access to this number and cannot provide support through it.

We understand that incidents like this can feel unsettling. Guided by our kaupapa of manaakitanga, transparency, and care for our whānau, we want to reassure you that Whaiora continues to operate securely, and we remain committed to protecting your health information.

Ngā mihi nui for your understanding and trust.
Whaiora

Meri Kirihimete from the team at Whaiora 🎄❤️

Thanks to the generosity of our community and the pūtea raised at the Hoki Mai Market, we’ve been able to deliver these aroha packs to local whānau.

Each pack represents care, manaaki and the collective aroha of everyone who contributed — helping ensure whānau are supported over the Christmas period.

We’re grateful to the whānau who have kindly consented to sharing these moments, and to everyone who helped make this possible.

Ngā mihi nui and Meri Kirihimete from all of us at Whaiora.
