Another video we’re keeping here for future reference. The clay in your Morris & James pottery came from right here - a clay pit adjacent to the pottery (that was) in Matakana.

Dug up from scratch, on site, and worked through before becoming the pots that found their way into homes and gardens around the country.

We’ve really appreciated all the feedback around the cover designs so far. There have been some great ideas in the comments of our previous posts, and it’s been valuable to hear your thoughts.

From your input, we’ll be including all of the cover designs within the book! While the cover matters, ultimately it’s what’s on the inside that counts ✨

As a side note - we'll definitely be finessing the final design (looking at you, Kieran's Bar).

There’s still time to order the book. This is a limited-edition, preorder-only print run, with preorders closing 30 January - so get your skates on.

Once you’ve ordered, you’ll receive a link to cast your vote (1x vote per purchaser):

📘 Book FAQs - The Clay That Connects Us. We’ve had a few great questions coming through, so here’s a quick roundup.

What’s the price of the book?
$120 + $10 NZ shipping. Australia shipping options are available, with UK / USA / Canada shipping available by request.

I’ve submitted a story and photo - will it be included?
We’re aiming to include everyone who submits a story or sentimental comment via the submissions online form. Images are included where they meet the requirements outlined in our Terms & Conditions (including resolution and content). For example, images featuring identifiable people are not suitable. If there are any issues, we’ll contact you directly so you have a chance to resolve them before we go to print.

What’s in the book?
Alongside your stories and photos, we’ll be including our own imagery and the most recent Morris & James catalogue in the back - a visual feast!

Have I missed the submissions deadline?
No - we’ve extended submissions to 15 January to give everyone more time after the festive break. That said, sooner is better to help our designers reach production deadlines for the final layout.

I’m having trouble uploading images to the form - what should I do?
No stress. You can email your photos to marketing@morrisandjames.co.nz.
Please make sure you still submit your story via the online form so you can review and accept the publishing Terms & Conditions. As long as there’s a completed form for us to match your photos to (accessible via our website), we’re happy to accept images by email.

How do I order the book?
Simply order online on our website - ready and waiting:
https://www.morrisandjames.co.nz/products/the-clay-that-connects-us-hardcover-book
This book is pre-order only, with orders closing 30th January. This will be your only chance to secure your own copy and memento of what the pottery has meant to us all.

For all project info including link to submissions form, visit our website:
www.morrisandjames.co.nz

We’ll be working through submissions more heavily from next week as we design and layout all the delicious pages - thank you for the stories you’re sharing!

The Clay That Connects Us is shaping up to be one of those books you reach for often - the kind that makes you feel good simply flicking through the pages.

Filled with colour, stories and familiar forms, it takes you straight back to the Morris & James days, reminding you what made the pottery so special. Designed to live on the coffee table, spark conversation, and be returned to time and time again.

This is a limited-edition, pre-order only publication. Pre-orders close 30 January, and we're not planning on any additional print runs.

The book also includes the most recent Morris & James catalogue at the back - a detail collectors will appreciate over time.

If this feels like something you’d love to have on your shelf, now’s the moment to secure your copy and be part of this one-off project 💛
